Default Garage floors upgrade with industrial polymer - pictures

After much research and angst the garage floors finishing project is underway.

Some background, we've been in this newly constucted home for 2 months now. The plan is to live her a long time (we were in our previous Cary home 10 years) say 20 years and get the three (plus one on the way) kids through school. We couldn't think of a better place to be living right now, Cary, NC has it all.

Anyway knowing that we should be here a while I wanted the best floor and something that would last a 'lifetime'

So I've tried epoxy coating from the HD in the past and while the floors look good initially and clean up well they do after a few years they look grubby. And no matter what the epoxy will lift under a hot tire.

I also looked at 'race deck' type products but didn't like the fact that the dirt is always sitting under the tile. OK it's out of site but never out of mind really.

Then I can across PremierGarage and they offered what at first looks like an epoxy with a colored fleck in it. But the product in place has a much richer finish than epoxy and PG offer a lifetime warranty which no epoxy team would offer. Instead of an epoxy PG uses an 'industrial polymer' that is resistant to most stains (not transmission fluid and a few others) and certainly hot tires.

Here are some (****ty iPhone) pictures, the last one with Olivia is post sealing today. The picture before is from the end of day one of the project prior to sealing. The entire floor is diamond polished prior to any work.

Sweet, Bruce. I'm envious!

Olivia's cute as heck, BTW.

I had PremierGarage do my floor over 5 years ago and it still looks brand new.
Looks really cool when they also do up the concrete on the sides of the garage. I wish I would have done that. I did do my stairs though.

Nice job!

I'm looking foward to opening up the garage doors and having a good look at the floors.

They did remove any excess flakes before the final clear coat went down. They seem to have a very good multi step method. I'll post some up close shots of the detail work around the edge of the garage.

Very nice look! Thanks for sharing this. What is the rough cost for this approach? How does the cost compare to the "Race Deck" product type?

Love it Bruce. I still watch that video of your little one pointing to the back when you ask her where the engine is. Simply iconic.

I paid about $42 a sqf. Never actually got a 'race deck' quote.

Congrats, looks great. I think maybe you meant $ 4.20 per sq. foot, I paid $ 4.50 per sq ft here in the DC Area about 3 years ago and looks brand new still.

I believe that Premier's product is a polyaspartic polyurea material. If so, you should be very pleased.

I had that type of flooring installed in my garage last year, and we absolutely love it.

Enjoy!

Indeed I was off by a factor of 10 - yikes.
