Default 991 Observation

At our local 991 "extravaganza" last night I was interested to see what had been done on the PDK cars to deal with cooling. On my '09 there is no centre rad but the "blank" in the centre directs air to the two rads. In the newer 997.2 PDK a centre rad was installed. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but on the 991 PDK there is no centre rad and in fact the blank is just that, no air directed to the side rads. Couldn't tell if the side rads are bigger or somehow more efficient.

I noticed the same thing, what happened to that radiator ? also- the radiators for water were stacked 2 per side for a total of 4 in the 997.

In the 991, there appears to be 1 per side for a total of 2. Perhaps ADias can weigh in on this one.

My thought is that the cooling on the 991 relative to PDK may have been improved to the point that neither the additional center rad or the ducting to the side rads is needed. This would allow them to plug the center opening for improved aerodynamics. As to why not eliminate that opening altogether, my guess would be for stylistic reasons or perhaps more likely to allow flexibility in future 991 iterations where additional cooling might be needed. Just my speculation....
