scarry Carfax? or not really? update:overrev info now included

Got a full PPI on this car Friday afternoon. No issue uncovered at all besides a missing nav disk and a mangled aero spoiler lip which the seller said he will replace .
Now I need to decide whether I want to fly and drive 1200 miles back home or have it shipped... I am leaning toward the ship route but the thought of waiting a week or more likely two isnt appealing. Driving an aero kit car 1200 miles on I95 isnt super appealing either as I know it will be fun for the first 3-5 hours and drag for the next 12...
to ship or to drive, that is the question

If not fly and U-haul it back yourself.

The big problem with U-Haul car carriers is that they do not accomodate low profile cars. I had to use wood to gain enough clearance for the front spoiler on this 944. A 997 with an aero kit is much lower.

I dont think they are trying to mislead me at the Porsche dealership. I know there was a recent upgrade to the Piwis computer that prevents them showing the duration of the overrev... it now only shows the last time it occurred. Other posts on rennlist confirm this
history as I know it
slave cylinder failed and took the clutch with it at 19k miles - overrev cat 5 may or may not have happened at this time or before this time..
RMS was wet and corrected at 22k miles
car has 32.5k miles now

I have not seen the car myself but the service advisor @ the dealer who did the PPI was very excited about it, and he sees 100's of cars. Car is in Largo, FL... I guess I should try and get a rennfax anyhow...
any volunteers for a monday AM rennfax?

time is money (yours, anyway), so ship it. Two weeks comes and goes in a flash. Besides, that's two weeks of anticipation and no buyer's remorse. The buyer's remorse can't set in until you're actually using the vehicle, right?
Procrastinate. Ship the car.

+1 drive it home. I drove mine over 1300 miles home when I bought it in October. The guy who bought my 996 drove over 1400 miles to take it back home. Good bonding time with her.

Got some bad news... post PPI: entire car aside from hood and a front fender was repainted at some point... asked them to go over it with paint meter and got back thickness of 7-14 everywhere.... dealer claims to "not have known" and "would have never guessed by looking at it"
so.. Im still looking.

Oh man, that stinks. Sorry to hear. While it sounds like a good re-spray, you don't know what's lurking underneath and what wounds could be left uncorrected. Probably best to continue looking as you say.......but it's still liking taking a punch to the gut.
