'06 vs '07
Hi all,
I've decided to get back into 911 ownership (last one was an '88 targa), 997 specifically. I'm looking for an S cab and have found a couple that tickle me - right options and cool color combos, both non CPO.
'07 cobalt/grey/black, PSM, heated power seats, new brakes, new rubber, 44k miles - $57k Pcar dealer - DME scan looks ok
'06 red/brown, PSM, heated seats, 49k miles - $47k Nissan dealer, no PPI yet
I like the blue one a little better but then I started thinking that's a hefty premium for a nice color since the model year doesn't get me much. You could argue that resale is higher, but that delta will shrink, esp since I put about 15k/year on. So I'm here to solicit thought and opinions to potentially help me make up my mind.

From your posted info, I don't see a viable reason for the $10k delta. Sure, there is the 1 model year and 5,000 miles, but I don't see how that adds up to the difference. Guess the new brakes and tires are baked in? That can add up to some hefty bills.
You probably are already aware there are no (or no significant) differences between 06s and 07s.
If anything, the '06 is a nice point of leverage for your negotiations.

If CPO is important to you, you can probably get it through the P-car dealer. Is there a reason this particular 07 has no CPO?
I have found that you can get great deals on high-line european cars from import car dealers. Many of them just don't have the clientele for selling them, and they have little or no knowledge of what is desirable on the cars. Case in point, a few years back I picked up a mint BMW MCoupe from an Acura dealer for probably $8-10K below market value, and an M5 from a Lexus dealer a few years later. Both salesman remarked they had little or no traffic on the cars...they couldn't move them. A p-car dealer is much more likely to stand firm on pricing. A Nissan dealer will likely not be able to move that car without bargain pricing it.

I'm figuring $2k for brakes (fronts) and tires. Pricing sites give about $5k to the newer car, figuring typical depreciation, but really what does it get me.
CPO is nice but not required. Though I really only started looking at '07s because Porsche is giving 1.9% financing on '07 and newer CPOs.
The 07 does not have it because it has an aftermarket stereo.

Just noticed btw that I didn't say that in my OP, but I'm looking at convertibles, hence the prices aren't bad. Not great yet, but not a horrible starting point.
