Slightly off topic, but I've always wondered how much paint work would prevent a Porsche from being an eligible CPO candidate. There was a thread here were a lister's garage was broken into and both his Carrera and Cayenne were stolen. The Carrera was recovered, but the thieves had vandalized all the exterior panels and slashed the seats. Owner refused to take the car back and it later ended up at the local dealer repaired and CPO'd.

Two or more panels, I believe. And, not so sure the frt and rear facias count.

Paint protection film is not permanent. It can be removed without damage to OEM paint...unless of course, it was this vehicle. In this case, there is paint damage because the installer was cutting the film on the vehicle and cutting straight through.

I am on the east coast and use Detailing Dynamics. Another excellent source.
Thank you! Yes DD's really good at what they do and they have been doing it for a long time. It is rare to have businesses uphold standards like theirs.

Agreed on the respray. Very few paint shops can perform work to OE standards.

From what we've been told, there's at least 4 vehicles done by this company when the dealership switched vendors. And the others are just as bad and all of the owners are quite "picky" according to employees of this dealership.

Unreal! The armature that did that job should be pistol whipped. Well....that's extreme. Maybe a firm talk'n to. Why can't people take pride in what they do anymore?

Don't you need to wait for the respray to cure before reapplying the new film?

You guys did an awesome job on my car btw, still looking great going on 5 years

Wow. can he not take delivery of the car? I mean does the dealership even have to tell him? I think they should but is there a legal right for them to disclose this IF they have Premier fix the job to their satisfaction? I do think however whoever at that dealership who thinks that company #1 did an okay job and the 35% cost savings is justified needs to go find an new line of business! No way that type of crap should be okay with anyone who sells or details such fine autos! It looks like one of those AutoZone tint jobs that folks put on their cars instead of just paying a profesisonal shop to do it. Yes it'll cost maybe twice as much but will look so much more better and last. Like someone said..you do get what you pay for sometimes and if the price is too good to be true...it probably is! Md

Yes, for any repaints, you are supposed to allow the paint to breath / cure for 30 days. Thanks!!!!! We are glad to hear after 5 yrs you're still happy with what we put on!!!

Funny thing, is the dealership tried to have the company fix it several times. The customers are way unhappy and questioning why didn't they use Premier in the first place. Here's the twist, the dealership is trying a different company even after these episodes of highly dissatisfied customers.

The point to this thread is to show several important items to those seeking out paint protection film installation:

1. custom vs. precut - does not matter if the installer cannot do either right
2. cheaper, in general, does not mean better
3. the installer is the most important factor, film is secondary
