I designed porschefinder.net so that you can filter on model, year, keywords and then sort those results by price. For example the following are possible:

* 2008-2012 911 Targa
* 2006 911 PASM
* 2012 Boxster Sypder

If you search Turbo or GT3 you will get "false positives" for the reasons you mentioned - but that's true most places unless they break out the models in a more granular fashion, i.e., 911 Turbo, 911 GT2, 911 GT3, vs. just 911. However, I feel that weeding through a few false positives is a small price to pay for the ability to search multiple sites at once in a standard way. The thing that drove me nuts about all the car sites is that they each have a different way of searching/filtering for cars which is why I built this site.

Thanks for more great suggestions

Biggest issue I have with the filtering is that it will remove cars that it should not, sometimes no big deal, but it may remove that car thats perfect for you.

Example
Search for all 2006 911s, then seach with keyword manual, go back and compare the 2 lists and you will find a number of manual transmission cars that got dropped out from the keyword search with manual. Why, because the filter did not find the word manual in the fields it captures, it all depends on how the seller filled in the advertisement.

So the basic fact is that all the seach engines help, but you have to use a bunch of them as they all have some limitations

jfoxny - great site you put together but 1 gotcha: seem to return no results every morning for me. I need to wait for it to "wake up"

Ha ha... you are actually waiting for me to "wake up" (literally) and notice that that happened. -- Yeah, that's something that I need to fix. I'm currently working on moving the site to a cheaper hosting solution and in doing so will tackle that issue.

Glad you like the site otherwise!

Any way for you to add a craigslist scan to your site? any way to eliminate sources (like ebay)?

I've been wanting to add Craigslist for some time now (along with Hemmings, Excellence Magazine classifieds, and a few others). The problem with Craigslist is that the listings are not structured in any consistent way. I've even found that some listings are just a huge image which contains all the details from the dealer. So, unfortunately, I haven't found a good way to search Craiglist without getting a bunch of junk. If I do, I'll be sure to add it.

Jason

PS - As far as a way to eliminate sources, that's a good idea; I'll put it on the list. I will say, though, that eBay Motors is a pretty good site for cars. eBay has gotten really good about controlling the bogus listings as opposed to Autotrader and Cars.com which are littered with crap listings (2009 997 Turbos for 50k for example); Cars.com more so than Autotrader. eBay Motors is actually where I found my current p-car.

Thanks Jason!

It is a great tool for searching... I'm looking for a 2009 997S with PDK, low miles, Sport PASM, etc....

Jason,

If your putting things on the list please take a look at how you grab e-bay data fields, found that the site dropped manual transmission cars that e-bay lists as manual in its data field.

found another one that seems to cast a wide net though its filters dont seem to work very well

http://www.lemonfree.com/

Of course the other site as a MUST check is
http://www.salvage-cars-for-sale.info/

Make sure your dream car is NOT listed there

I saw a nice car in FL that was listed on lemonfree cars and cargurus that was also listed on Salvage-cars-for-sale, Now its not looking like such a nice car

Can you enable filter with negation - so if I want a manual coupe, I could search for -automatic -cabriolet -convertable. More reliable than trying to guess what they would have put in. Just a thought.

Found another good site autos.aol.com

Does not have a keyword search but does have a pretty cool market value graphing function that shows the prices of all the cars listed in the search versus the mileage so you can get a sense for how reasonable the car you are looking at is priced

No, I unfortunately shut it down for now. It was costing me more than it was worth. :-(

Sorry to hear you closed it, but understand the financial ramifications. Your efforts were appreciated.
