Cool

The tag has me intrigued. As a Florida resident, I was not aware that one could order a plain white tag body. We have over 150 personalized tag designs in this state, but I was not aware of the choice for white blank background. I also think he is likely to get stopped for putting that badge on the plate.

But if it is truly legal, it would be fun to do a blank white background, letters offset to the right like this plate, and then put a PCA sticker in the blank spot.

Anybody know anything about blank white background personalized plates in Florida?

Also, I apparently am too tired tonight from the beautiful day at the track to decipher his tag.

Do you mean to say an interesting "996"? That's a heck of a body kit/paint( or wrap) /wheels/accessories.

Heck, I guess it could be a 996. I really didn't dissect it that closely since I was "blinded" by the rest of the bodywork. Couldn't make out anything about the interior since it was very heavily tinted glass other than it was PDK with paddleshifters. I just assumed...

There's always a gaudy modded car in every paddock. More typical among Vette owners, but the Porsche community has a few too.

Kind of reminds me of all the after market body panels the Vette guys used to do back in the 80's....totally not digging those ghetto non-performance style bling wheels.

However I wish I was at The Roar Before The 24 today

Certainly a visual spectical; but a little too "Pimp My Ride" for me.

I didn't catch the 996 interior at first but your right. Look at the speakers on the dash and the instrument cluster "bubble". Definitely 996.

And the corners on the hoodline are dead giveaway but the mat white - was it vinyl Thundetub? - could be interesting in partial application.

I LIKE the side scoops....I always thought the Boxster should have been like that, maybe not as extreme

Well, I'll be at the Rolex 24 in three weeks. I'll see if it reappears and get more details.

The side scoops were "functional" in both directions. Because the rear side intakes went through the bodywork, I considered that it might be a Turbo. But no other markings to determine that. Entirely possible it was a 996 Turbo originally, or maybe an aftermarket Turbo conversion.
Did not see any edge seams or corner wrinkles on the matt white paint, so probably not a wrap. I gave that idea a cursory check. Seems like whoever made that many changes to a 996 would probably spring for real paint. I was really more focused on getting to the Mens Room than dawdling at the car. LOL!

Heck, I saw the headlights and tailights and assumed it was 997-based, so I'm not a great detective when it comes to stuff like this. I would never replace that chick on "Unforgettable." LOL!

and add to that the "fabricated" FLORIDA tag. it has the 06-12 registration decal in the upper right. but the close up pic Mark posted shows the emblem is screwed onto the tag and the WTRSD letters are raised a'la standard tags. It may be a modified authentic Florida tag that has been painted or such. the black FLORIDA letters in the top center look like a decal and the WTRSD may have been repainted.
modded like the rest of the car.
