do T4S's generally demand the same premium as the 4S demands over a 2S? what about a T4S vs C4S? thanks

You know the cars gotta make you feel like wantin it. If you don't get that warm fuzzy feelin don't bother.

Kelly Blue book will show all pricing, values etc. Compare to other 911's

+1.

If you like Targa and it has the options, color combo you like, GET IT! Traga's are very rare and more unique than just all Vanilla Black Carrera you see around!

Not necessarily, I think Targa prices or any used Porsche price for that matter is more about supply/demand and willingness to sell by seller. It definitely had a higher MSRP than C4S.

Targas can be tricky. When I bought mine used in 2008, there was little supply as well as little demand, so I got a great deal when i found it. And when I sold it in late 2009 there was still little demand (for any Porsche - prices were pretty depressed still), so I had to discount it to sell. Now it seems there is renewed interest in Targas, so they may command a better price than 2 years ago. It is limited supply, and sometimes limited demand, so timing is everything and it is hard to generalize.

The targa is very unique, always a blast to drive and it is easy to load up if necessary. If you look at the new lexus that will be introduced it looks like it has the glass roof. Quite contemporary, if you are looking for $ value maybe not, but enjoyable driving makes it worthwhile.

A local well known indie told me to stay far away from the targa, once they start to make rattle noises its all over. They wont even take the job of trying to fix it , it becomes a huge time sink and the customer never understands why it cost so much money to make a simple rattle go away.

Just notice something strange: In service date is Sept 2009 for this 2008 997.1

Only sense I can make of this is that its a late production car that was sitting on the lot for a very long time...

good part is that (it think) the factory warranty ends in Sept 2013, bad part - it could have spent many months on the lot...

I have to wonder if the indie was basing this on older (pre 997) Targas which were a problem, especially the 993 and earlier ones. My 07 had fewer rattles than my current 06 C2S cab. Targa squeaks, in my case, were easily solved by cleaning the rubber weatherstrip edges of the sliding top, and I had no rattles in the 25000 miles I put on it.

I absolutely love the "Rattle-y, heavy, twisty Targa" stuff -
in pretty much the same way I love those folks who are still trying to prove that the moon landing was a hoax.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good urban myth.
Maybe the 'rattle-y' was somewhat true....like 30 years ago.
But keeping the Targa top quiet is so simple. First time - 20 minutes. After that 10 minutes once a year. Maybe less.
PasPar2 - just search this forum under 'Targa roof noise fixes'.
What the heck, most guys spend more time cleaning the buttons on their dash.

Well known fact: Ever since Roswell, dusty dash buttons on Porsche 911s auto-combust. It's the sixth leading cause of death in developed countries. And there's a government cover-up.
I read it on the internet so it must be true.

You do loose some rearward visability. But it only matters when you are moving backwards. If its an issue, just partially close the roof, back up, then re-open. With the backup sensors its not such an issue. But then, I mainly drive my car with the nose pointed in the direction of travel. ;-)

I've been contemplating of trading my C2S for a Targa. For my work / hobby, I couldn't carry anything in my C2S. Targa would be perfect!
