I was getting a few exhaust nuts and bolts tightened the other day when i noticed a little black pipe about 3 inchs in length coming from the side of the engine with 2 circlips holding it in place weeping what looked like engine oil.
It seems to be exiting the engine at the very bottom of the block toward the back end of the car. Its on the left hand side of the engine if im standing at the back of the car.
I should have taken a picture when i was under the car lift at the exhaust place but does anyone know the part in question as i cant seem to locate it on the parts diagrams.
The car in question is a 2005 997 3.6

I believe that is the lower water pump hose. Leaks normally leave trails from the source and accumulate at the lowest point of the engine. Follow any residue/staining back up to the source of the leak. May be you water pump is going.

Had a good peep under the car today and it was the chain tensioner bolt's crush washer which was letting oil out and it was passing onto the coolent hose.
