Default Alternatives to Porsche's Lithium Battery?

With Porsche's lithium car battery going for well over $2K, I have found other lithium type car batteries on the market for about 40-50% less. However, it is difficult to determine if these batteries are suitable for everyday stop-and-go all weather use. Appearently the only downfall with the the Porsche lithium battery is cold weather but I don't know if this limitation carries over to other manufacturers. Has anyone successfully used an aftermarket lithium battery in their Porsche in the above driving conditions? It would be interesting to know how losing 25-30 lbs of up front lead (Pb) weight would affect handling or driving feel.

Do a Google search. There is at least one outfit I ran across that has complete info on their site. The cold weather starting issue has to do with the capacity of the battery - not to kind of lithium. Light batteries have lower capacity. I seem to recall at least one which was heavier than the OEM which would be OK in low but not sub zero temps.

Oh, I've have found several on Google. They seem to gravitate towards track/race cars but not so much for the daily driver, although most say they are alternator compliant. the heaviest lithium battery I found was around 9 lbs. Still quite a weight savings. I've even seen a photo on another forum of a Porsche that used a large motorcycle battery. Owner claims to have never had a problem with starting or charging. I would assume a battery charger would be mandatory.

Yup all the effort to shave weight really amuses me. Frankly the Li batteries are not good enough considering the ltd capacities. For $2k i want perfection.
Changing seats is the best.
