The OP got a tremendous deal unloading his GTS cab.

Maybe the dealer has some overseas buyer looking for specific spec cars? They usually sell for a lot more overseas than what we're paying for in the States. And new cars aren't allowed to be exported which makes semi-used cars in higher demand.
Just a theory...

Not sure why everyone thinks they know more about the deal that you actually got. Congrats on getting in and out well.
My question is why? A GTS convertible is a really fun car. Seems to fit your needs - but then that may be presumptuous of me..

pricing and lease finace rates on the new 991 are much higher than the current generation 997.2. I think there a huge market for CPO 997.2 considering the public recognition of the new model as different from the old is limited to afficiandos

Hey, what's wrong with lawyers??? I'm a lawyer and there's nothing wrong with me.
Allegretto: The important point is that you get and drive what makes you happy and puts a smile on your face....Sounds like you got a great deal on the sale and you enjoyed a great car to boot and now moving on to something else. It's all good.
Hope you continue to post here. I have enjoyed many of your posts.
Good luck finding the right 993!
Remember when you get the new 993 (new to you) it didn't happen unless there are pics!

Well due to the doubters I went back and looked over both deals
It cost me ~$5160 tax changes included.
perhaps he did have a hot buyer. I don't know...
The car had <2500 mi and was perfect.
Hey, you want to be upset be my guest. I was just giving you guys a heads up with all the doom and gloom over dropping values.
I bought it very "right" from a dealer who owed me a deal and sold it to a dealer who was eager to get it. One dealer did want to give me less, but I called myself before I traded it in @ the BMW store.
I think most folks just take what they are told at trade in time. This may start a new trend for me in how I manage my purchases. I have suspected sometimes that the dealer gets a buy figure and takes some profit there too. Now I just cut through that and had a car with some demand.

Get this, import tax including local taxes come to 19.1 % on top of the assessed purchase price. Thats how much tax it costs to import a vehicle into Ontario

Congrats on the sale, I'm sure owning the car was a great experience.
I'm surprised to see so much negative comments from 997 owners. Remember that everyone has different tastes and what one person thinks is "THE BEST" doesn't necessarily mean that everyone else feels the same way. Case in point, I could have purchased an 09 C2S instead of the Spyder but I preferred the Spyder for its dynamics, style and size.
Go with what you like and appreciate that others may have a different opinion.

I'd love to get a 993. Might get yelled at for that though.
Shipping next car to SC then. $300 max?! That's awesome.
