Price check - 2007 C2 stripper - CPO with 36K miles
I've got my eye on a 2007 C2 and I'm hoping I can get a sanity check on the dealer's asking price.
Here are the specs:
- 36,000 miles
- 6-speed
- Carrera III wheels
- Meteor gray
- Sand beige
- Adaptive sport seats
That's it! It doesn't even have the Bose sound system (which suits me just fine since the subwoofers take up extra valuable behind-the-seats storage space).
2007 MSRP was probably around $77K, if my figuring is correct. It's CPO and was put in service in December of 2006, so it has about a year of warranty left.
I don't know anything else about the car yet, like a DME scan or a PPI, so let's just assume that they're ok. If it doesn't pass those tests I won't put in an offer at all.
The dealer is asking just under $51,000. I'm thinking more like mid-40s. Am I off base?
Also - should I have any concerns regarding sand beige leather? Does it get dirty and worn looking more easily than darker colors? My preference is black or gray interior, but the rest of this car looks so good, it might be worth the compromise.

For this time of year, and because it has miles, mid $40s is something the dealer might consider. In season, this car is worth $50K+ all day long if it has a CPO .

Last March I paid $55K for a 2007 C2, with marginally more options (Bose surround sound, 19" Carrera Classic wheels, spacers) than what you list, but it only had 12K miles and had ~ 6 months of factory warranty remaining. With the miles and options I wouldn't pay more than $44-45K, and I would try and get it CPOed. If not, an extended warranty is going to cost you another ~ $3K.

For reference: I bought my 07 C2 in May 2011 with CPO to August 2013 22k miles, better options: 19", bose, manual sport seats, sport chrono, nav. I paid $51k. Best money I've spent! Now has 37k miles on it...

I bought my 2007 C2 last March with 2 months of warranty for $49,750 with 16,200 miles, all leather electric seats, 19" wheels, Tiptronic, bixenons. I thought the price was a bit high and I asked them to throw in a CPO warranty-and they did for no extra charge. It already saved me $800 out of pocket.
I wouldn't go over mid-40's given the mileage. Definitely get the CPO warranty.

Christmas of 2009 I bought my CPO'd 06 Carrera (pictured) as a stripper with 38k miles for $42k from Champion Porsche

More reference data: I bought my 2007 C2 last May with 2 months of warranty for $40,000 with 55,000 miles, loaded with options, full leather, 19" wheels, tiptronic, nav, sport chrono+, bixenons, ... (orig msrp $95k).
I have no complaints with sand beige leather. Dirt might show sooner than on darker leather, but it's very easy to clean.
Best wishes.

Wow. There are some wide-ranging data points in here. From some posts I can infer that the car in question is worth $40 - 42K. From others $44-46K and still others are saying that anything under $50K is a good deal.
But here's the one that strikes me the most: if an '06 CPO C2 with 38,000 miles was worth $42K in 2009 (i.e. a 3 year old car), wouldn't a similarly optioned '07 CPO C2 with 36,000 miles be worth under $40K in 2011 (i.e. a 4 year old car)?
alpine-al's experience seems to back that price up as well.
If the DME and PPI check out, I think I'd be offering low $40s, but I'd be surprised if the dealer would actually let it go for that price.
BTW - how does one conduct a PPI from 500 miles away?
