Default PCM Question

Yes, I have done a search have not found too much on this.....

Recently, when coming out to my car in parking lot, got into my car and started it up. Immediately the Nav. warning screen ( "lawyer paragragh") appeared on my PCM. So, I accepted, activating the map mode. The map seemed a bit different than I remembered ( e.g. the roads were a different color). After going through the menu, I was asked if I wanted to update the Nav. This looked strange to me and I accepted. A download type progress bar appeared and after several seconds, the map reappeared and this time it looked normal.

I have to admit that I did not remember whether or not I left the PCM on when I had turned off the car. By the way, I was NOT using nav before turning off the car but was listening to the radio.

The question is ... is this a sign of bigger problems to come or just one of the rare, unimportant events? Any similar experience or input would be appreciated. The car is a 2008C2S with about 9K miles and 10 months left on the warranty. No other problems other than a battery that may be getting old ( no problems starting or running).

Weird! Maybe your Nav just got a wireless 4G connection to update its maps!

I can only guess, but is it possible the map DVD was ejected and re-inserted at some point? and that it was just reloading it into its cache? or maybe it got some info from GPS and re-adjusted? can't think of anything else, and I've never seen this on my PCM.

That is what used to happen when updating GPS, in my 06S, generally only once or twice initially.

I thought the map data came from the DVD?

I have seen that once or twice. I wouldn't sweat it.
