Anyone switched from 996TT?
Hello,
I have been in the market for a clean 996TT. However, I find myself not enjoying the driving experience of the Turbo as much as I imagined. It is very fast when the turbo spools up, but it almost seems like I cannot have precise control of the throttle input. It's almost like an on-and-off switch. Also, the sound itself is not very pleasing. Don't get me wrong - it's a very fun car that is well built and really fast... and I would be very happy to own one. Perhaps, that's how forced induction cars are like.
Having said so, I am wondering if there are any ex-996 Turbo owners who made a switch to the 997S and actually enjoyed the driving experience more. I feel that the 997S is already very fast for my street driving needs.
Would love to hear your experience.

We have a 997S and a 996 X50 TT cab. My better half drives the 996 most of the time and I the 997. The 996 is a absolute beast and probably the quickest/fastest car I have ever driven, the power is intoxicating on boost. I do agree the TT is more difficult to drive, very easy to over rev in the first few gears. The 997 is much more linear and the sound w/Tubi is much more pleasing, almost reminiscent of a 3.2 growel. I definitely prefer the 997 as a daily, but if we are taking a nice drive through the Sawtooth mtns of Idaho on a nice day, it will be the cab every time, not for the power but the open air experience.

I came from a 03 996TT X50.
I had a 6-spd ,the engine will rev so quick, you have to shift out of 1st too fast. I didn't like the power delivery for backroads. Its an open road car that feels very strong and limitless. You might try a Tip and be happier in the city.
Interior and comfort wise, I'm 6'3" 250 and I didn't sit comfortable in the car as I do in the 997. The interior seems 'cheaper' in the 996, but thats just an opinion.
You might consider a 997TT, best of both worlds , in comfort and power.
One other thing, a writer in one of the 911 magazines put it best..in a 996TT you seem to miss all the speeds between 10 and 80mph, they just rush right by during acceleration. Basically its not linear like a NA.
Each to their own.

(It sure works for me.)
