Has anyone else installed these on their 997?

I'm feeling like quite the idiot as i've spent about 2 hours trying to figure how to put these on my car

just wondering if it needs the bulky adapter because i got it on with the adapter and it's noisy and just doesn't seem the right way of doing it

any pointers would be great......and yes i did read the instruction

I tried them, and yes, needed the adapters, don't think will use them again..
