Default Curb Rash repair in the Bay Area?

Any recommendations? Got some minor curb rash on one of my rims today. Sucks. I've read some very positive and some very negative reviews about Advanced Wheel Repair in SF. Anyone used them or anyone else?

Will call the dealerships Monday to see who they use.

TIA.

If you don't mind driving out to Walnut Creek, I recommend Rite-Way Wire and Wheel highly. Jose is the man to talk to. He took care of 2 of my Carrera Sport wheels just a week ago and they look just like new!

Wheel Techniques in Santa Clara is the right place to do that repair.

If the wheels affected are those in your avatar you have nothing to worry about--they are one of the easiest and least expensive to fix! (Don't do that to the Carrera Sports XRR).

Dan: can you please expand on XRR repairs.

The vast majority of OEM wheels for the 997 are cast wheels (let's exclude the 997 Turbo wheel by Fuchs that is forged) with simple aluminum paint jobs. The XRR Carrera Sport Wheel is also cast, but painted with GT Silver and with a machined lip or outer edge. The machining of that outer lip makes a curb rash repair a bit more expensive, as they attempt to emulate the original look. Sometimes it can be done with paint, but then all wheels on the same side of the car should be treated accordingly. To do it correctly, it needs to me machined and finally clear coated.

The simplest wheels, like on those of the OP's car, will be the easiest to fix. In fact, sometimes it can even be done while leaving the tire still mounted on the wheel.

Agree. This is what was done to my wheels at the shop.... the outer lip was machined then clear coated. The center portion also had to be re-powder coated since it would otherwise change color when the wheel goes in the "oven". Fortunately, the curb rash on my wheels (which I purchased used) were limited to one front and one rear wheel, so I just put them on one side of the car.
