Default Final Purchase Decision 997.1S vs 997.2 Base

After much searching, I have narrowed it down to two cars a 2009 base with 5k miles or a 07 S with 6 k miles. Both cars have about two years to run on their warranties and are in near perfect condition. The 09 can be had for mid upper 60s and the 07 S for about 10k less. Both are similarly equipped and had MSRPs of approximately 87k, except the 09 also has XM and Bluetooth. Thoughts on which is a better deal?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

They both look nice. The Porsche bible says to get the newest Porsche you can afford. But, there is a $10k delta and the allure of the S. It also looks like the '07 owner was very meticulous. I'm not clear on how an '07 and '09 have the same warranty unless one has extended warranty. The $87k MSRP for both doesn't sound right as I would have expected the S to be more. Others with far greater knowledge than me can chime in with the technical differences between the .1 & .2. My lean is the '09 for $60k. Regardless of what you get be sure to get a PPI at a Porsche dealer and drive them both. All the best.

I would go with the "S" in this case since it is less money and appears to be in like new condition.

I would definitely go with the 997.1 S - especially with the extra 10k in the pocket.

Just had a second look at that S, looks brand new but what's the red intake in the engine? Is that a Fabspeed mod?

Yea,..Go with the S. The S owner is a PCA member with a classic 911 in the garage. He knows what he is doing around a 911. I bet it would be like a new car.

From a reliability perspective - 997.2. And performance-wise the 997.2 Carrera is just about as quick as a 997.1S.
