cannot jump the battery
First, I'm an idiot.
Second, I get in the car tonight and it will not start. Turn of the ignition sends everything flickering and clicking, but no turning over the engine. I try to jump it and more of the same. This fkn car is cursed.
Any ideas?
It's a 2010 with 1250 miles. It has spent most of its life at the dealership. I think it's home sick.

Did you "rev" the car that was trying to charge the Porsche?

sometimes you will need to let the car charge for a while (5 minutes) off of the donor car. My 2012's battery went dead after I brought it home. It took me a while to charge the battery enough to start the car. Good luck.

Buy a new a battery. 997's are battery killers if you let them sit for long periods of time. I plug mine into a battery tender if I don't plan on driving it in the next week.

Seriously most of its life at the dealership? I don't know what the laws are in OK but there's a lemon law in MA that says 3 repair attempts for the same problem or more than 15 days out of service in the first year or 15K miles and the manufacturer owes you a refund or exchange for a new car. Federal law is a little more liberal at 4 attempts or 45 days.
Anyway, what kind of new battery and what brand of trickle charger does everyone recommend? I know this is a loaded question, but don't forget my OP where I set the ground rules with my very first sentence!

I hear you. Not really mechanical difficulties, but the dealership never gets anything right the first time. My ownership experience is like a series of hilarious SNL skits. Hilarious to everyone but me.

I have found that once a battery (the new type) goes dead, it never recovers 100% of it's capacity..I used a maintainer for my Boxster if I was not going to use it for more than a week...no big deal I ran a connector from the battery out under the front of the hood and closed in on the wire..

Battery Charger
I'd recommend the CTEK 3300 Multi Battery Charger. The charger is feature rich and comes with an interchangeable set of connection leads that include clamps and eyelet terminals. The eyelet terminals were a good fit with the battery cable clamp bolts and there was enough give in the plastic cover above the battery to let the lead rest by the windshield washer and wiper. (It has a cap so no water will get into the lead) With this setup I can take the lead and attach it to the charger without opening the hood. The wire coming off the charger is long enough, when connected to the lead, that it will reach the floor in the garage and I can place the cover over the car. Works well and no dead battery. Here is a link to the CTEK web sitte that explains their chargers: http://smartercharger.com/ You should be able to pick one up for under sixty bucks.

I have ordered a CTEC charger with cig lighter attachment. It's a long story, but practically ALL of my issues stem from the fact that the dealership never gets it right the first time, and its employees are extremely careless when the car is in their possession. Mechanically the car has been perfect. They have made art out of scratching/breaking/damaging one thing when their job is to fix another.
