Default Alignment covered by CPO?

My car's steering wheel sits a little to the right and during driving the car tends to drift to the right. Does CPO cover this? If not how many food stamps does it cost to have it aligned? Does the dealer have to do it? Thanks.

A dealer will charge you +$300 for an aligment. A good indy will be about 1 hour labor, or about $120.

Some of what H noTwo O said.

However, I have managed to get a pretty good discount from the dealer's alignment cost, in one case getting my Turbo's alignment done for $160. The service manager said he was running a special and gave me an added discount for goodwill. And I was at a dealer 2K miles from home and had never bought anything from this dealer or even had my car there before this time.

In the case of an indy who I had align my Boxster while the indy was a highly recommended alignment shop and with a good reputation and rightly so based on my previous experiences there, the indy shop charged me $300. This was a bit more expensive than the dealer's alignment price.

Regardless, I do not scrimp when it comes to alignment. A properly aligned Porsche is a swell drive, great feeling car, and gives those expensive tires a chance to last a long time.

FWIW, I just replaced the rear tires on my 03 Turbo and oh the cost! Sit down you get a quote for new tires for your Porsche!

But the good news is that because the alignment was a good one the tires lasted nearly 24K miles.

By comparision, early on in my time with this car, the car received a crummy alignment with the result the rear tires were gone in around 8K miles. A good alignment saves more in tires than it costs to have done.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Just a quick side note, don't have this characteristic confused with the crown of the road.

Yes I've taken road construction into consideration. If I keep the steering wheel perfectly straight the car will go to the left immediately, so I figure an alignment is in order. The car only has 11k miles.
I wondered if the tires are causing it but only a trip to the shop will tell. I hate to have anyone mucking around with the suspension but have no choice.
From the above it looks like the dealer is the way to go although I live near a few Porsche Indys who have goods reps.

I had the same issue with my car. It turns out that before they do the allignment they "lock" the steering wheel to the brake pedal centered. Sometimes the text doesnt tighten it enough or e wheel isnt centered. Next time i get an allignment i am going to ask to center the wheel myself... So your allignment is fine but it is the steering wheel. That being said u do need an entire allignment.

To avoid car drifting to the right, turn off Fox Radio when driving.

$300 seems high. My dealer charges $199.
