Porsche as a daily driver
#16
997.1 C2, it's my only car; I have to daily drive it!
I've put ~20k miles on it in a year. It would take a long time to list all the things I've done with that car, and all the weather extremes its seen, and it's never missed a beat. it spent the last four days in long-term parking at LAX while I was at Petit LeMans. doing my first track day with it (but not my first track day in a 911) this weekend at Willow (big track).
it's a car. drive it.

DD my 06 C2S for the past year in Alabama, and just brought it back to Utah for the winter. I'll be putting snows on it this winter for some fun...
These are great cars for DD...

Had mine for 6 months and have put on 6,000 miles as DD. Wouldn't have it any other way. These cars are quite comfortable and reliable, and work well even in traffic. My two boys love riding everywhere in the jump seats.
Then, when you get a bit of free space in the twisties, squeeze the LOUD pedal and all is right with the world.

I went the garage queen route for years but was never satisfied with my DD. Why have a car that you love and drive it every third weekend?
997's are great DD's. Very roomy compared to older 911's and drivable. Life can be short - get what you want and enjoy it.

The best part of going to work the last several years before retiring was drive in to work with the top down in the brisk morning air. Couldn't imagine leaving any of my past Porsches in the garage.

No question. If you have one - use it. Mine is a great DD. I put a rubbermaid tub in the frunk to protect the carpet from grocery bags, soccer *****, etc... My only regret is that I live too close to my office.

I use mine as a daily driver and put on average 100 miles a day. Gas milage is great and the newly installed Tubi exhaust makes things even more fun. I drive both city and highway every day and I have never been happier. I can't wait to put my new Pirelli Soto Zeros on for the winter and drive in the snow!! What would be the point of spending all this money on a car to look at it in the garage??
