I dunno' it's so far out but I'd like to think, unless they totally muck it up, that by then I'd be looking at maybe an Aston Martin (but I doubt that I'd get rid of my GTS).

I used to be excited about lots of cars, but owning a 911 has pretty much ruined it for everything else in the ballpark. The only other high-end car that might excite me is a Ferrari, but I guess it would have to be a California because I still like driving a manual. But living in NM, it's just not practical to think of having to ship a car to Denver for service.
I still find myself attacted to much simpler cars, though, like the new Cinquecento, Boss 302, and Miata.

If its for me: RS America
If its for the Mrs: whatever the current BMW 7 is (only a 7 could replace our 7)
If its for me: A tow vehicle for my track'd out 997

That said, I'm not looking at the next car. I hope to keep our cars for a long, long time. I'd be happiest if my 997 were the last Porsche I ever bought. Not because I'm cheap (I am, but not about car-nal urges), but because the cars we currently own are really, really good.

Do you know easy/hard could it be to convert to RS 4.0?

I honestly think if one is successful making a .2 RS streetable, it's absolutely the BEST SPORTS car to own! Great sound, amazing engine, fantastic looks!

The only dillema for me whether or not to keep that amazing wing! It'd be fantastic for track and completes the look, but, it's absolutely a MAGNET for cops to try to trap you into something! I once was told by an RS owner, cops used to follow him for MILES to catch him speed to ticket him. Once he was followed ALL THE WAY from Whistler to Vancouver (like 80 miles).

Ask me in about 20 years. By then maybe I'll think about selling my 997. But by then the only thing available will be electrics and 90 hp hybrids.

That is tough.

If I stick with 4 seats:
991S
997 GTS
Lotus Evora

If I look at 2 seaters:
used R8
2013 Cayman S (let's see what it looks like)
Boxster Spyder (i really like this car!)
Cayman R
new Lotus Elan (looks good on paper!)

In a couple of years, my boy will be too tall for the back seat of the 997. So I will need two cars, at which point I might switch to one of the choices above and perhaps get a hatchback for family runs.

Next? Get your hands off my P car! Just back away.

Seriously,, I agree with Selo:

I found myself bereft when we bought that NSX for Cindy and she insisted on sharing it. After fifty years of coveting cars, suddenly I was cut off. I'd look through Road & Track and just shrug. Ferrari's F-355 was glamorous, but not as well designed once you looked away from the engine and considered the whole package. A hypercar like the McLaren or eventually the Bugatti Veyron (or one of the original Royales for that matter) is interesting to read about, but those never inspired lust. I got to operate much more expensive vehicles, not to mention some really expensive equipment for the Air Force. Most veteran's have, I suppose. So price tags don't impress me, and unless you live next to the autobahn you can't use the stratospheric top end the testers brag of. Hell, most tracks don't permit those speeds and I seriously doubt the autobahn does either. Just because they don't post a limit doesn't mean common sense and other traffic won't complicate your life in search of a land speed record on the way to town.

No, a car that 'merely' brushed 110 mph before breakfast was good enough for us. And the looks were grand. All the other cars became boring the day we brought home that NSX.

Except one. And when the dealer wrecked Cindy's NSX, she said it was my turn to choose. So I did.

Get away from my 911. 'Next' be damned.
