outside air temperature sensor, where is it?

Sorry for asking but this is my first post after purchasing a 2001 986 base convertible a month ago. The sensor described is mounted as shown or is attached to the front passenger grille? in my car it is just dangling loose in the air well, and I need to reposition it where it should go. Thank you for any advice you may have.
