Default Dog owners - question

Hey,

For those dog owners on board, do you have any recommendations for how to set up the back seat for bringing a dog around?

My girlfriend has a rather large standard poodle and I've been wondering about this. The dog doesn't shed which is nice but claws and leather interiors are not a good combination!

Pull out the seat bottoms (they are just attached with Velcro) so the leather doesn't get scratched by the claws. Then throw in a dog rug/blanket to help clean up the fur. That's how my German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois rolls. Though with a poodle you don't have to worry about fur flying around.

I filled in the back "buckets" with two inch styrofoam so the hump wasn't so big for my pyreneese to straddle. I bought a couple of black bath mats (one for the front seat, one to cover the styrofoam in back. Surprisingly no squeaking from the styrofoam, too. Works quite well and "Dillon" can lay back there and watch what's going on through the front windsheild. The only problem is my center console lid is kind of taking a beating......oh well.

I use a moving blanket, they are thick and easy to mold and generally stays in place.

I use a large leather piece from a discarded leather sofa, along with a couple of waffle weave microfiber towels. Keep the seat backs up and allow the dogs to sit in the seat like a human. (I used to have 3 standards and they fit the back seats well--one in each of the rears and one on the front seat!)

This is a toughie....Is she a really great girlfriend?

I'd be more concerned about the sills of the car and the dog clawing the paint and plastic getting in and out...

From my POV it's impossible to be that great a girlfriend....although when I really think about it I can come up with some tradeoffs I might exact in exchange for this consideration

You can't do that for nothing

At our house, her car is the "dog car." We bought a "dog seat cover" from Orvis, works great.

The CTT is perfect for my Mal. I would take out the seat bottoms if I had to transport him in the Cab as others have pointed out

but

it would have to be some kind of really good reason. What's wrong with her car?

The seat cover ideas sound nice...but make sure to also secure your dog with a harness or some seat restraint device. Porsche's have great brakes!
