Default Clear Bra???Decisons, decisions...(Poll)

Ok, I know there are hundreds of topics on this but my question is very specific to my car/color choice. My prior car was a black Cayman. By the time I traded it in, the front end had a lot of small rock chops etc…So, I promised myself that I would get a clear bra installed on my new 997.2 since I was going to get another black car. Well, I ended up getting an Arctic Silver color which is probably one of the best colors to get in terms of not showing every imperfection from the road (white is another good color). So, now I am contemplating whether I should get one installed. I have had the car for almost two months (1,800 miles) and the color does not show road imperfections. Even in one or two spots where there is a small road chip, you can’t even see it unless you are closely inspecting it.

The reason why I am contemplating getting one (the cost is not a factor) or not is that there are obvious advantages and disadvantages to having one which I wont discuss here given that it has been well documented in the past.

So need to take a small poll. Who has one or not and what color car do you have? Trying to see by not having one installed, if I am in the minority. Thanks!

I have one on my Cobalt Blue 997S and it saved my *** last Saturday. I was driving a friend home that night and hit a chunk of 18-wheeler tire. Knocked the front end out of alignment (thankfully nothing bent) and scuffed up the protection film but didn't break it. A buff and polish is all I needed to remove the rubber that transferred to the film -- way better than repainting the front end of the car. Also, my car has the aerokit and the GT3 black lower lip which also helped take the hit.

Clear Bra -- It's not just for rock chips!

its good to have one, if its done right and you cant see it. if the cars got no chips yet its best to do it if you ever plan on putting one on. But it also depends on the cost, if they want upward of $500 you can come close to repainting the bumper when it needs it. I usually repaint my front bumpers every 4 yrs or so

Have a 3M one on a green 997.2. Doing it's job. Still looking good. Even have Clearplex on the windshield. Has served it's purpose from rock chips. If I were doing it again say on a 991(dreaming) would get full front end wrap by Metropolitan in Seattle area.

I would go for the wrap. I have it on my car and am amazed how well it protects. In autocross, I acquire all these new cone marks, and wax takes it right off. I don't know of any down side. Every nice car of mine will get one.

Black car, have Expel clear bra, and am very glad I do. My car is garaged and covered and not used all that often. I wash and wax the whole thing, just have to be careful about wax on the edges of the bra. Take care of it the right way, and you don't know it's there.

Also have one on my 07 4S which is Cobalt Blue. Extremely pleased with it. I would definitely go with the full front end wrap as I did, it avoids the line half way up the hood.
I won't think twice about getting future cars covered. I used Premier in California who do an excellent job. It's not cheap, but having flawless paint is worth it.

do it, it is well worth it. paint is quite fragile on 997 cars. it chips very easily.

I also have the 3M brand. I only went with the half up wrap, if I were to do it again would def. go with full front end wrap. Nearly invisible on GT Silver.

3M ClearBra on black 911. Would get it again in a heartbeat. Holding up well after five years. It's a no brainer when compared to the eventual need to repaint the front end of an unprotected 911.

I did not have one on my black 997, and the front bumper was a mess after ~4 years, IMO. When I went to sell, one fastidious would-be buyer was turned off, but the dealer that paid top dollar did not discount the price paid, so while it didn't look great to me, a clear bra would have been money wasted.

That said, I did have Premier put one on my silver Spyder the day of delivery (they did a great job; full hood and bumper, no visible edges). But if you already have some chips at this point, I would just let it go, and save the cash.
