Default Found a cab on Leasetrader.com, deal or no deal?

Been searching for 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet and found this on leasetrader.com. I tried to contact the seller but leasetrader.com wants $35 fee before I can email them.

Here's the link for the car:

http://www.leasetrader.com/2009_Pors...t_149172.xhtml

The deal:

VEHICLE DETAILS:
Actual Miles: 28,505 miles
Total Miles Allowed: 45,003
Miles Remaining: 16,498
Available Miles: 2,750 miles p/month
Leasing Company: Porsche Financial Services
Vehicle Status: Available
Exterior Color: White
Interior Color: Tan
Vehicle Location: Houston, TX 77036
VIN#: WP0CB299X9S755419

LEASE DETAILS
Months Remaining: 6 months
Original Lease Term: 36 months
Lease End Buyout: $55,652.00
Lease End Date: March 2012
Excess Miles Charge: $0.30 per mile
Contractual Lease Payment: $2,222.11 p/month

If I do the simple math $55,652 + $2,222 * 6 ($13,332) = $68,984, Sounds like a good deal if I can get the seller to buy the vehicle now (which should be less then $68,984).

What do you guys think?

Has anyone used leasetrader.com?

Anyone in Houston area seen this car? It looks like it's at some dealership.

Thank you,

Ren

Not sure I understand how this deal even works. But I just have to say, who the hell in their right mind would sign up for $2222 per month for 3 years? That's $80K to borrow the car for 3 years. No wonder he wants out. Good luck

If it was leased through a business then it's pre-tax dollars so it's more like
$1452/per month if that money would otherwise be considered taxable income.

I cant believe that lease payment. Insane. But if you want to buy the car, then its definitely worth $68,000.

Its a pretty decent deal for you now to buy it for $68K. For him at the beginning - not so much.

Now this I have experience w/. First, PFS won't let you "transfer" a lease if it w/i six months of it's expiration. Second, PFS does not transfer a lease. What they do is charge you $100 for a credit check. You have to qualify just as the original lease holder did. If you do qualify then they charge you another $400 to add your name to the lease. Note the last point "add your name to the lease". The current lease holder (lessee) becomes a secondary lessee and you become the primary. Both parties remain on the lease and are liable. That is, if you flake out and walk away from the car, or basically leave any obligations unpaid, PFS will go after the secondary lessee if they get no joy from you. The question then is, if the current lessee understands these issues why would they risk their credit on a stranger's promise to be responsible. What I don't know are rights at the end of the lease. If you go down this path you may want to make sure that, as primary lessee you have first rights on buying the car at the end of the lease. Mark and I found this out and it was a total hassle so I simply bought out the lease and in consideration he signed an agreement to buy the car from me once I officially owned it. It all worked out fine for us. Good luck.

Tcc1999/Tim,

Thank you for the info. Because of you and Mark, I have learned not to take over the lease of the Porsche due to the exact statements stated here. I am hoping that the seller will buy the car from PCNA/PFS and I can buy it from them. Therefore, I can avoid the hassles of the lease. I doubt anyone will be as kind as you and the way you treated Mark.

BTW, whereabouts is the GTS?

Why can't you get the seller to get a current buyout # from PFS and then you pay PFS directly and have the Seller instruct PFS to title the car in your name?

@Jes999 - PFS just wont do it. I dont know why. They seemed to be purposely difficult on this.

@Ren - I think its crazy that leasetrader expects the potential buyer to pay $35 for the right to contact their customer. I hope this is a one time fee that allows you to contact any customer on leasetrader if you go forward.

I looked up the zip and its a 30 minute drive from my place and I think they bought the car at Momentum Porsche - but just guessing because its the closest dealership to the listed zip. If you get serious and think you will be moving toward a PPI - give me a shout and I try to do a Pre - PPI for you (get hi resolution pictures etc) Maybe I can start my own "good Karma" bank as well.

Good luck

Mark

Mark,

They actually have different packages you can pay in order to contact the seller and it gives you access to all other ads as well.

They (leasetrader.com) actually called me this morning and left a message. I'm going to try and contact them once I'm off later today. I will let you know if I will need your help with Pre-PPI. Thanks again.

Is there some reason that this car is pulling you really hard? There are lots of cars out there that could be had with far less financial hassle. Is it worth having to go through all this "stuff" for this particular car? I know that anything can be done, but these things shouldn't be this tough! Thinking out loud.

Deal if the owner buys the car outright and wants to sell it to you. Otherwise, you can find another vehicle in the same range easily.
