$200 is a steal. My company is contracted with SPX (who owns OTC) and I sell the OTC product. My cost is more than $200.

The 1532 jack is made in Owatonna, MN not China. The OTC stinger line of jacks is made in China.

just stumbled upon this thread. just got my 1st dedicated track car ('04 96) and need a jack. The car is pretty low - is the 3 1/2" profile sufficient? Also, dumb question but also just got a trailex open trailer. Any reason i couldn't use this jack if I had to use it on the trailer?

Good info. Great to know that my jack is made in the USA.

Obviously it depends on just how much you've lowered your car. My 997.2 S has sport PASM which is 20mm lower than the base Carrera. With the OTC 1532 there is still sligthly more than 1 1/2" of clearance between the rear jack point and the jack. (The jack easily lifts both wheels on one side off the ground from this jack point.) Since the jack is equipped with a rubber pad, I no longer use a seperate jack pad, hocky puck etc to protect the body so that helps the clearance issue. Unless your car is much lower than stock you should be ok. I don't see why there would be any problem using it on your trailer as long as there is room to position it safely. It's pretty compact and certainly light enough to lift on and off the trailer as required.

Welcome to the 21st Century of manufacturing. 90% of the stuff comes from China. Some is fairly well made, and some stuff should scare you away.

I have three floor jacks with two of them the lighter aluminum Chinese variety. They seem to work fairly well, but the steel Craftsman that I have (probably also of Chinese origin, but a long time ago) is very solid.

The old addage, "you get what you pay for" is somewhat true. Just be careful to not pay too much for what you're getting.

I use this exact jack and have had it for a couple of years or so. Before buying it, I read some reviews and they were all pretty positive. Due to its weight, it's great for carrying to the track/autocross. I think I got it at Harbor Freight or Northern Tools, but it's been a long time, so I don't really remember.

I try NOT to buy China made ANYTHING, but it's very difficult! EVERYTHING from Harbor Freight is China made.
As far as jacks go you are just lifting the car, so whatever gets it up is fine...JACK STANDS, should be used EVERY SINGLE TIME even if you are just changing a tire, (well on the road is different) but then who carries their garage jack on trips...

I purchased a Zinko jack about 10 years ago from Archer Racing. I've never had a problem with it.

I have used the Harbor Freight jack for years with ZERO issues. I think I paid $99 for it back in about 2004/2005. I have used it 100's of times over the years at track days and autoX's as well as repair jobs in the garage. Small, light weight, and reliable. Can't ask for much more.

Well, I just got one today, and ... MADE IN CHINA. Oh well, I tried to buy USA made, anyway. But failed. At least these are from a reputable company and there's a nice parts list; I'm reasonably confident that it's going to be serviceable should it need it.

(Click photos for larger versions)

Note lower left-hand side of label and label with large printing on left side of box ("Made in...").

I have to admit, it does appear to be very well built. Pretty, too.

That's a change. All of the jacks, presses, and lift tables with a lifetime warranty used to be made in Owatonna.

Some of the reviews on the Amazon link for that jack are pretty scary.

Cool

Back in post #45, I mentioned that I was also considering (influenced to some extent by the positive remarks about OTC in this thread) the OTC 5202. I wound up getting one of those, too (in addition to the OTC 1532). I'm going to retire (i.e., give away to a friend or something) my old MVP Pro-Lift G-489, which has actually served me pretty well for many years and still works just fine.

What's really nice about the OTC 5202 is that it has great non-metallic wheels that are both quiet and safe to use on our epoxy garage floor. No more laying down cardboard or some other mat before using the jack.

Not made in China. Instead... Spain.
