Default 3000 mile roadtrip - impressive numbers

Apologies to Ecostellodo - but that is a very good idea.

Some of us just completed a nifty 2+ week trip down the west coast including a bit of the PCH and an absolute rip through some nifty narrow roads leaving wine country.

28.5 MPG (Imperial) on an average of 89 KPH -

I'm impressed because that included a number of hours of 80+ MPH freeway and some LA, WeHo and Santa Monica bumper-to-bumper traffic.

That equates to around 24 MPG US and average speed of 55 mph over 55 total hours driving time.

Fantastic trip, can't wait for the next one.

It was also interesting that the AMG SL63 in the group was pulling at least 1/3 more fuel at each stop, so I'm guessing he averaged something like 17-18 mpg under exactly the same conditions.

Next time you venture in my direction I can give you some very specific PORSCHE roads to travel upon.

AMAZING. I love West Hollywood. I always shack up in the cabana units at the roosevelt.

Yes, Weho is great fun but you must be completely non-homophobic (at the very least homo-tolerant) to really enjoy all aspects of it. I usually stay at the Le Montrose nicely wedged between Sunset and Santa Monica Blvds.

Options are wide open for various forms of dining, shopping and people watching.

Nice density of very good hand car washes too - a must after many miles on the I5.

I did keep my eyes open for that destinctive shade of blue as we passed through Santa Barbara. Never thought about making road inquiries - will definitely check with you first next time through.

Thanks!

I must say I was very impressed with how willingly drivers pulled off to the side to allow us to pass on "challenging" roads.

Given the high MPGs... it does not appear much of a spirited drive.

He missed the serious Porsche roads down here, didn't he, Tony? Last run I made gave me 15.8 mpg.

Thanks for the shots guys, but remember that we had to plow through a couple thousand miles of interstate as the primary arteries.

Every trip down we pick up a new driving road or two. One of my favorites is the Crescent City/Grants Pass cut-off.

Eventually we'll make Vancouver - LA into a 6 week return journey.

No shots, just an observation. You drive as you drive, and that's plenty fine for me.

No, no offense taken - I was being sarcastic, I keep forgetting that easily gets lost in this medium.
