Strange bolt head pattern on sump
I changed the oil on my 997.1 over the weekend. Very easy, didn't even need to jack the car up. I used a big green 6" deep oil pan from Autozone. Sweaty work in the 37C (98F) degree heat here .
200 degrees Fahrenheit oil flows very nicely!
I have a question though. I bought an aluminium oil sump guard and was hoping to fit it. However the bolts I need to undo to attach it to the sump have a strange head pattern. A bit like a Torx screwdriver, not a regular 6 sided bolt. Do I need a special socket/spanner to undo these?

parts catalog lists as M6 x 20 torx screw (13 of them?) but i know what you mean OP. quad, yep, theyre male but could have sworn they were male hex. oh well, either way i'm sure the local hardware store stocks the right tool. good luck OP.
Thanks guys. That's exactly what it is, a male torx bolt. I can now add some more tools to my collection
The torx bolts I need to undo to attach the sump guard are not on underside of the sump (which may be male hex) but at the sides and front of it and are currently securing some pipework.
