Default thinking about buying a 2007 c4s

looked at a 07 c4s today.Very nice car. Silver with red and black interior. It is really gorgeous. It's a one owner car with 29k miles..It's about 55k but I will be getting out of my cayman lease so I am upside down about 8k.
I know that the gen 2 cars are supposed to be better but can anyone tell me anything about the 07 that i should be afraid of..The car is not a cpo car..
I really love the red/black interior..its ferrari red..full leather..mint condition..thanks in advance,Joey

Good car! Some issues with the engine Rear Mail Seal but you can have that checked out. Is it at a Porsche dealer? Pics?

Good looking car, dealer has a good reputation and the price seems fair. Can you offload your Cayman on swapalease? Ask them to give you two weeks to try to sell the car, give them a good faith deposit and throw $3k in to the lease payments and see what kind of interest you get.
Great interior combo.

That interior is great! The carrera red with black carpets is really cool, you see a lot of terracotta/black but not a lot of this color combo. Price seems good, even better if you can get it closer to 52K.

I bought my 07 4S about 6 months ago similar mileage and price as this one. If you dont know much about cars, make sure you get someone to look over the body for prior accidents, and oil leaks as others have noted. Drive the car on multiple occasions and listen to the engine/car for any unusual noises, make sure it shifts smoothly..get a PPI.

Im also out of warranty and mine wasnt CPO which is why you should get an inspection done. The car seems to be priced well and the location is helping you on price..

Stunning...really an awesome combo. Something I would want to drive everyday...uhhhh...no. But still...park it in the living room and just stare at it!

As far as price...I would say do the PPI, get the car fax and then offer $52K. Without the CPO...I think the asking price is high. And remember to get the DME readout as part of the PPI...

Good luck!

Keep in mind that the differences between the 997.1 and 997.2 cars is most significant in the AWD models. Prior to the 997.2 cars, the all wheel drive system is very simple--crude, almost. It's identical to that system used in the 993 Twin Turbo and the 996 Twin Turbo and the VW Vanagon Synchro. It's a viscus clutch system that senses a change in the temperature of a silicon fluid and that change causes the front wheels to become engaged. It was Porsche's solution to a very complex AWD system that had been originally designed for the Porsche 959, and was found in the more 'production' 1989 Carrera 4 cars. In time they discovered that it was way too complex a design and prone to problems. Maintenance was problematic. They quickly shed that complex design when the 993 was introduced and they used it across the line until the 997 Twin Turbo introduction. When the 997T was introduced, it featured a much more sophisticated computer governed AWD system. That system was ultimately adopted into the Carrera 4 cars in the 997.2 line up.

Is one better than the other? It's up to you to decide. However, one is very simple to maintain, and the other may be complex. Only time will tell.

I got an 07 C4S and it's fantastic! Make sure you do a PPO and ensure car is well maintained, otherwise these cars are bullet proof.

.2 AWD is newer and in some ways better, HOWEVER, it is heavier, engages front wheels more than .1 AWD, and understeers more, and in general has LESS of a 911 pure feel. .2 would definitely do better in slippery conditions, but that is at the expense of sportiness. I test drove one in Nurburgring last year and wasn't too impressed. You can't go wrong with .1 C4S.

Weird that in picture 21/31 of the instrument cluster that it's showing 1 bar of oil pressure when the engine appears to be off.
