Default Be gentle...my first time

Been a die hard vette owner for years, (still have an 89 and 2008), but after a recent visit to a Porsche delaer with a friend and a test drive, i had to have one. So just bought a 2007 C2S. I've been seraching several forums for info but still have a few questions. Would very much appreciate your time if you can help.
1) Where do i get a Manufacturer's service manual, not one of those hayne's paperbacks but the same service guide used by the repair shops?
2) Best place for parts? Have seen a few posts regardng Suncoast, any others?
3) Most recommedned upgrades for performance? Have seen a few posts not recommending increasing the airflow, where is the bang for the buck?
4) Already joined the PCA and lookng for a good driving school, any recommendations?
5) How do i get this smile off my face, have had a blast since day one.
Thanks for your time!

You are most welcome. I also had an '08 C6 briefly between 2 911s. The C6 is a great car but the 911 is special.

I think your dealer can supply you those.

Sunset Imports in OR, Suncoast in FL and Pelican Parts on the WWW.

I recommend you keep your car stock for a while, at least until you get fully acquainted. The car does not need an improved airflow as it already has an excellent CAI. Many mods out there make it less cold... Same thing for exhaust/suspension etc.

Allow me... I'm sure you are an expert performance driver, but I still recommend a visit to PSDS (Porsche Sport Driving School) in Birmingham to learn how to drive 911s.

PSDS first choice. Contact local PCA region for local DE events.

It looks like you get it. I suggest you stay out of CorvetteForum as you'll be labeled a pariah or a snob.

911s are all about handling and finesse. Smoothness is the name of the game. Burnouts have no place in these cars as they have prodigious traction; traction to move them forward, not to make smoke.

Welcome to the forum! I used to own a 2001 C5 FRC, great car! The Porsche 911 is a different kind of beast.

ADias seemed to have covered all your questions .

Don't test drive a Turbo .

Welcome!

ADias already mentioned PSDS, but since you are new to Porsche, that stands for Porsche Sport Driving Schools. Here is a link:

Ahhhh well, another Vette that will be looking for a new home soon !

I bought a new C4 Vette when I was 25 and had it for 18 years, for several of those years I also had a 964. I loved the differences in both cars, and I used to love to blow off stress after work on mountain roads taking each car out back to back.

I recently sold my nearly perfect 44k Vette to a buddy of mine, and I missed it alot, until I replaced my 964 C2 Cabrio with a 993 C4s. The C4s is perfection to me, and has the bark I missed in my Vette.

Good luck with your new ride and enjoy both cars while you still have the Vette

Well, I'm a newbie also. I'll be meeting up with my buddy who is a newbie vette owner in a few weeks at a PCA DE. It will be fun to compare the rides! We are both pretty new to track driving. I think, first and foremost, we are all performance driving enthusiasts. Then we can subdivide to brand enthusiasts...

Another Ex-Vette owner here. We have enjoyed 6 of them since 1988 with the last being an 07 Vert. One summer night I drove a friends Porsche C4S and the sale of the Vettes began the next day. We have enjoyed 3 Porsches since to include our current 2009 C4S Cab, shown in the avitar. Full agreemnt with the responses you've received and high praise to this forum for its kindness, direction and guidence. Welcome and Enjoy!

"The sale of vettes began the next day..".

Hmmmmm.... sounds serious, we better give him some flat 6 exhaust and German leather NOW!

With proper care, a complete recovery is possible. Now, just get that Corvette hair product off of him...

See, they can be saved...

Not helpful. Stereotypes may not apply.

What if instead we ask the OP to describe his car, color/options?

And another ex-vette owner here- previously '96 and '01 6spd coupes. Now with 05 C2S. I heard a nasty little rumor that the next gen vette may be a small displacement V8 that revs to 9 or 10 K rpms. Can anyone confirm? Porsche better watch out for American technology.

I like the sound an exhaust can make, even if any performance gain is debatable.
