I can tell you that at one of my visits to a nearby Porsche dealership, I was told by one of the sales professionals, that at one of their regional company meetings, they were told by a company representative that the sports cars ( 911s and Boxster/Caymans) were the past and that the sedans and suvs were the future.

Even if he was making a bad joke regarding the 997 vs. 991 (and it sounds like I may be giving him more credit than deserved), the 997, like the 993, will certainly go down as one of the best-looking 911s, and reflect Porsche's response to the look the -ophiles were seeking.

I thought the least he could have done was to say, "We don't have any at this time, but I'll be happy to let you know if any come in." He must have seen the blonde hair and thought he could pull one over on me.

No kidding! I've expressed my interest several times to our three local (well one's an hour away) dealers regarding a Green .1 GT3RS and all they ever say is "we don't have one". Well how about you put my name and number down dumb-*** and give me a call when you get one you lazy bastard! Too busy selling Cayennes I guess...
