I just bought my friend's classic 84' targa! He aquired from a Colorado dr years ago and only has 78k on the clock! Since then he has pumped 4k into it suspension and upgrade wise!

Congrats and welcome to the air cooled world. The older cars are a blast, just in a slightly different way than the new cars. Until you are more familiar with its limits, be cautious. The grip and handling are less forgiving than the 997's. Remember brake straight and power on as you exit the corner. Lifting in corners near the limit has unpleasant consequences (which I personally have avoided so far).
Enjoy!
i really want an older 911, but honestly have no clue about them.. really want one from my birth year 1986, i think thats a 964
That's my old Prussian blue 86 Carrera in my avatar. It's a 911 Carrera...not a 964. The 86 was a good car...but you get the G50 box with '87 on. Frankly...i forget if the 911 Carrera ended in 1989 or 1988....either way, this car was a lot of fun and you could actually work on it.
Alas...I sold mine for $10K about 8 years ago...I bought it with 109K miles...put 90K miles on it...and it was ready for a rebuild. I had a kid and another coming and it made no sense to keep (not at $10-12K for a decent rebuild)...anyway...they are great cars.
I (stupidly) passed on an '86 or '87 in Prussian Blue in the early '90s because I thought the seller was about $2K too proud of his car. I've lost sleep over the deal ever since. Prussian could be my favorite color ever, even though I've had 6 black Porshes. I had a Weissach 80 SC, the Graphite Black color variant and would love to have it back, too.

1987 on is a plus with the G50. I think the 964 started in 1989. I had an 85 Targa red. Loved it. Still the best sounding Porsche I've ever had. I may look for an 87 convertible, once the 991 comes out and I'm comfortable I don't want/need to upgrade. I can then spend the $40k I "save" on a classic.
To the OP, congrats sweet ride. I'd also restore the Fuchs to originality.
Congratulations! Beautiful car. Brings back fond memories of my '84 3.2 Carrera, my first Porsche and one of the 2 or 3 cars I really wish I still had. Enjoy yours!
