Interesting. I've owned 3 Audis (V6 turbo, V8, and TDI) and none has ever been in the shop for anything other than routine service. Really.

I've had a fair share of 3 and 5 series BMWs....all a bit disappointing in terms of quality. The best was my 535xi despite the HPFP issues. I recently traded off a 328...small, cramped uncomfortable car for my needs. I had 3 Audi A6 quattros....all problematic. One much more so than the others.

I like Audi, but I've found their dealers really leave me disappointed. The D4 body does not look teutonic at all.

I've had a few MBs, 1 C320, 2 E350's and currently an ML. The ML is decent. Probably the most important is the dealer is only a few miles away and is easy to work with and does a good job. BMW dealer has been a major fail in terms of service and in sales.

Porsche is next on the list--I like them but....100 miles one way for service is not good. So ugh, if theoretically I had to get rid of the 911, I might choose an MB S550 4matic.

But hey, hopefully not!

I have experienced owning an Audi A6, Mercedes E320 and BMW 535. The BMW is by far the worst. The build quality and material quality of Audi is superior to Mercedes and BMW. The BMW is also the least reliable from my experience. But the OP's question relates to or suggests a medical condition or disability. In that case the deciding factor may be how easy it is to get in and out of the vehicle. For example, a Panamera my be too low and a Cayenne may be too high to to get in or out of. We may be surprised after testing a number of cars, while actually having such a condition, what our conclusion might actually be.

imho, it would depend how hard/easy it would be to get in and out of said car. None of these choices matter if you cant move hips/knees/back well enough to "drop into" any of the cars.

If sitting "level" to your standing position, you'd have to consider a Cayenne/X5 type vehicle (or a minvan )

From a "sedan" perspective, I'm not a fan of BMWs current designs and to me Audis, while looking great, are getting played out a bit. I like the current MB cars though.

Just to keep the world in balance, we've had two Audi's (A4's) and sued Audi under the CA Lemon Law on the first one (3.2L N.A.). (DFI issues, settled for about 3/4 of what we paid for it and Audi told us to keep the car which runs okay ~95 percent of the time but could grenade, or not, at any moment.) That didn't stop my wife from buying another one (2L turbo) - which has had zero problems.

Traded a 2010 TT Prestige on my 2011 Cayman. The build quality on the Cayman is an order of magnitude better than that of the TT.

Perhaps Porsche can make a hearse out of a Panamera for the Porsche die-hards!

I'm not sure I understand the question. I mean, if we were in the Lotus Exige forum, y'all might have some kind of a point, but except for cargo capacity and carrying a bunch of people around, how exactly is something like a Panamera or a regular sedan a "better" car than a 911?

Have you kept them after the warranty? That is when the problems happened. It's been years since I've visit Audi forums but the time that I did, there were many problems. Lot more than you see on BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche forums.

The Allroad was a 3 year lease, I had the '06 S4 Avant for 5 years, and the A3 TDI is new. Admittedly, none of the cars was much past the warranty period. Still, FWIW, a lot of people have problems with cars under warranty, and I've never had any with my Audis. I've owned multiple BMW's, Mercedes, and Porsches and would say that my experience with Audi has been at least as good. YMMV.

ok....but they must have changed it up (a lot) in the last 8 years, esp the dash controls
