Default Diamond Fusion Windshield Protection Film on Spyder!

Long story short, we have tested a windshield protection film for a manufacturer from 5 years ago and there was just not enough durability for us at Premier to back it. Fast forward to 2010, we have been testing this new product by Prestige Films Technology who have developed a clear windshield protection film in late 2009. We have tested and used this product extensively and now are confident in its protective capabilities, but also its durability and clarity. One of our major concerns would be wiper scratches. To date, we have put over 15k miles onto our daily drivers and we do not see this as an issue. Below are some specs to the product:

Manufacturer: Prestige Films Technology
Product: Diamond Fusion Windshield Protection Film
Warranty: 2 year 20,000 miles from bubbling, fading, peeling, purpling, and cracking
Thickness: 4.2 mils
UV Rejection: 99.5%
VLT (visible light transmission) - 80% (factory glass is typically 82%-85%)
Heat Rejection: 10% TSER (total solar energy rejection - minimal heat rejection, but better than none)
**does not interfere with radar, am / fm, and other wireless signals

After extensive testing, we are confident in placing this product onto our customers vehicles. For those outside of our coverage area (norcal and socal), please direct your inquiries to Prestige for local installers - sales@prestige-films.com

Here are the photos!!!!

Would this help avoid damage from a larger road debris like a pebble or is this mainly to avoid the sandblasting from use on the highway.

Video of slingshot to be up in several days to illustrate the effectiveness of this product. Yes, it is designed to minimize damage from not only sandblasting, but also to reduce the damage that would have been caused had the film not been installed. On our company vehicles, we have seen rocks hit the film that left a puncture mark, but did not damage the glass. Just upon inspection days ago, the film has taken at least two large hits in the past year that we are sure would have cracked the glass.

The film will see general wear over time and is not indestructible. Retaining OEM glass is very important because many aftermarket glass installers do not install windows correctly leaving this safety equipment in questionable state. ABC actually did a story not too long ago regarding aftermarket glass installers not trained properly. This video will also be up shortly

No flare, halation from oncoming headlights at night?

Any refractive color dispersion or dichroism (rainbow effects) when viewed with polarized sunglasses?

Price and guarantee?

+1

This may be a worthwhile investment even for DD's.

These are good questions. Premier, do you have a response to them?

The product is clear and only exhibits very minimal rainbow effect only with dark sunglasses and if you are driving with these dark polarized sunglasses at nighttime. And even in this situation, if you so happen to be driving with dark polarized sunglasses at night time would this effect show if you are going through a tunnel with fluorescent lights.

Pricing is provided via in-person consultation with vehicle. As for warranty, it comes with a 2 year 20,000 mile warranty from bubbling, fading, peeling, and purpling.

For those outside of our coverage area (Norcal and Socal), please contact Prestige directly to look for a dealer in your area - their email is sales@prestige-films.com

We do not use RainX, but the film does have a hydrophillic topcoat, which beads rain water like RainX...so to answer your question, you would not need to use RainX or the equivalent if you have this film.

It also reduces glare for night time driving.

Just to answer a few FAQs:

Q: How do you clean it?
A: There is a special cleaner and sealer for it

Q: How long will it take before the water bubbles evaporate
A: 3-4 days

Q: Will my wipers scratch the film
A: Diamond Fusion has an extremely durable hardcoat that is scratch resistant

Q: Does it affect visibility
A: Diamond Fusion is a clear film with a VLT (visible light transmission) rating at 85%. Factory glass is rated at somewhere between 80%-85% depending on manufacturer
*this windshield protection film also reduces glare for improved nighttime visibility

Nice job with the install, the lines near the edge look very good. I'm fortunate to have found a very good installer here on the East Coast and I'm going to look into the glass protection with him.
