Escort Passport 9500ix Vs. Valentine One...

Regardless of what any users perceived "best" unit is, the reality is that:
1. Radar is a LOS operation. No LOS or reflective LOS, no pickup.
2. A police officer that is actively operating his radar gun will ALWAYS catch someone speeding regardless of the device used. Best case you get an early warning of when you are about to get a ticket.

BTW I have two V1's and have been very happy with them. Frankly if I didn't already have a heavy investment in V1's and accessories I would consider going with new 9500ix but the isn't enough of a compelling ROI to flip at this time...

I agree that no detector will take the place of common sense. Don't be a "lone wolf"! Don't be the leader of bunch of fast cars either.
I go with the Fastest Flow I can find and I'm willing to drop down 5 - 10 mph in the interest of avoiding a ticket. I find the biggest "danger" is a rolling patrol car coming from behind with no warning from any detector.
In CA, I haven't found too many speed traps on the freeway. However, in MA, you have to beware of EVERY bridge abutment, because the "Staties" love to hide there.
In either case, if you're the front car or the only car, best to keep the speed down.

The arrows on the Valentine i used for years were nice. Recenlty, got a Redline. It is rated on the consumer sites as tops for long range/low false alarms. I don't use it unless I am out on the Interstate or crusing the back roads, so don't need any sort of speed-cam/memorize frequent alarm capabilities. And yes, come around a corner or over a hill, running solo, and instant on is going to get you. I have had I think 3 moving violations in the past 40 years. Runs smart, keep an eye on your 6, and don't hesitate to brake when you get a chirp.
Was running this weekend on highway 17, costal in the swamps of eastern SC, down to the 8th Airforce Museum just of I 95. Lots of construction on the very rural 17, got a few chirps from the Redline. No way any false alarms, just swamps and forests on each side. So backed it down to the 45 mph limit, a few more chirps, and in a mile or so, ran into a HP parked in amoung the graders and other trucks, using his instant on on cars way out in front of me. Going down to Charleston friday afternoon, a pack of HP's just north of Columbia on I77, were instant on targeting the cars coming over a slight rise. But picked them up way out, from scatter from their guns.
Had my first flat in my 997, 200+ miles from home. Haven't had a roadside flat in decades. Arranged for a tow truck to plug the tire, will get it replaced under warranty this week. Called my wife to come in from the beach, I would jack the car, she pick me up to take the tire to a tire place for a temp plug.
Found out there is no jack nor even a lug wrench in these cars!!!
I'm going to carry one from now on.
All the best....

If a LEO is using lidar (he has to be stationary) and all you have is a Passport, V1, etc. you are screwed. He can pick you out of a crowd and you are done unless you block his signal.

The 9500 CI has really worked flawlessly for me and paid for itself on our cross country run last Christmas.

Just picked up a S3 for use as to keep the cords out of the way for "non-agressive" driving and love it, my V1 is for those day's I know I'm a bit ahead of the speed limit...

State Troopers in my area don't play fair. They keep their radar turned off until they see a target of opportunity like some Porsche coming towards them.

Zues, it basically comes down to your usage... if you intend to use it within city limits in Vancouver mostly, then 100% go for 9500 with GPS, you will get A LOT LESS False alarms than anything else... however, if you primarily use it for HWY driving, roadtrips, it's more of a wash, and I think I'd like to know the direction of the radar that V1 provides.
PS. Where are you buying from? I am also going to upgrade, maybe we can do a double-deal?

I have a redline hardwired in my 911. My wife has the 9500ix in her Lexus. The redline is noticeably better for hwy usage so that stays in the 911. I tend to speed on hwy n canyon roads.... not so much during street drives.
