CPO, or How I learned to love Ruby Red.
Our Panamera 4 gave a fault light just north of Valdosta Georgia. My wife and her sister were heading back to Knoxville after visiting their mom , near Ocala Florida.
The warning was for the Transmission, The book explained something about gears not engaged properly, reverse may not work. She called me. I called Porsche Roadside Assistance. They called her. She was instructed to find a safe place and turn the car off. A tow would pick them up and bring them back to the nearest dealership, Porsche of Ocala.
I have been casually hunting for a 997.2 Cab for months. I used all the internet sources including Porsche's Preowned search. I found a few I liked, Meteor Gray, GT Silver, and Arctic Silver. I was in no hurry, and very selective about the options I wanted. PDK with Sport Chrono, Full leather, Nav, Xm, bluetooth, pretty much the full monty. A couple private sellers popped up, but they were gone fast. Not a lot of these around. Porsche of Ocala had a 2009 Carrera 4S Cab for sale, CPO. Ruby Red, all the goodies.
My wife looks at the car and drives it. She's not sure about the color but it drives "nice". Her sister sends me an iphone video. The car just sparkles in the sunshine. I talk to the sales guy, an englishman. He says it's a one owner car, CPO, 19,000+ miles, and the previous owner is at the dealership at that time. He's getting his turbo Panamera serviced. My wife talks to him. He's late 60's, has not tracked the car, and it did use "about a quart of oil in 5000 miles." He "will keep his turbo until 2015, when the Panamera cabriolet comes out."
This whole story has just become too good. I had to buy it.
The girls drove both the Porsches home, and they got many looks and comments. They enjoyed it.
Now that I have washed it, detailed it inside and out, driven it , and photographed it, I adore this car. I've got 80,000 miles of warranty to go, and saved $45K off MSRP. It's my first venture into a wide body 911. The AWD is so very stable and sure footed. It does not have the precision responsiveness of my GT3, nor the sounds. It is just very confident (and open topped). I can understand the appeal of the turbo even better now. This cab is now my sweet DD.
I love Ruby Red!

There's a ruby 997 coupe parked by my office occasionally. The sun was hitting it one day and I just dropped my jaw in admiration. Beautiful color.

Beautiful Car! From our own search we learned that Porsche dropped a number of these in the states in 09 and we were able to locate 4 or 5 of them available earlier this year. We did find this one, with Porsche Certification, in West Michigan with 6.5k miles and had to bring it home. Frankly, we just can't take our eyes off it as it glistens in the drive. Since the purchase we have added colored crest wheel center caps, stainless trimmed dead pedal and the leather shift surround. Wishing you many miles of enjoyment!
