Default Which Tires should I try??

As I approach 50k on my 2007 Targa 4, I will need to replace my tires soon. I've only used Michelin Pilot Sports. I would like to try another tire. Any suggestions?? I have the 19" Turbo wheels on my car.

Thanks in advance..

It's beginning to seem like the super sports are the way to go. That is the direction I'm headed.

There are quite a few options that would work very well for you. Please contact me via phone when you have a chance and I'll be happy to get you a price.

Super Sports are not N-rated.

So those fitting them are you experiencing any odd handling feelins or anything?

Or are N-rated tyres no different to normal tyres, just a stamp so Porsce can make more money?

I was faced with the same question recently. I read all the threads with very emotional testimony to the superiority of Bridgestones and Hankooks and Michelins (not that many Pirelli fans out there). Finally I figured, the Michelin PS2s which I had were awesome, why mess with success. I know what I am getting with those. So I just bought the same tires which I had.

I am also the guy who orders the same thing every time I go to a restaurant. I don't like trying anything new, once I find what I like. Maybe that's why I've been with my wife for 28 years. Kindof boring, I know, but it works for me.

bingo

I have a set of super sports and new rims on order; they'll be on in a few weeks. (it would be sooner, but my travel schedule interferes)

the PS2s on my 997 right now are phenomenal tires, I can't wait to see how much better the super sports are.

I have a set of Michelins in great condition I took off to trynout some Toyo Proxes1's. I really li,e the Toyo Proxes1 tires especially in the rain. They really shed water away and in the dry on the street they grip very good. Great tires and are priced well too.

I like Dunlop Star Spec. They outperform the PS2 in virtually every performance category, and cost about half as much. Sumitomo HTR ZIII are also very good, if you're on a budget, but they're not quite competition grade tires like the Star Spec and RS3. I wouldn't recommend the RS3 for you because you're in NY; the Star Spec deals better at cooler temps. Speaking of which, all these are summer tires, and excellent wet & dry, but don't even THINK about driving them in the snow.

sjfehr, Dunlop Star Spec do not come in 19" 997S sizes. I know these have won some street tire shoot outs but they dont make a rear 295/305 size.

I applaud anyone who has had great success with a tire type but is willing to try something else.

My GTS was delivered with Bridgestone RE-050A's..

They are a definite improvement on my previous PS2's - especially in the wet..

for 19" you do not have better option in street tires than super sports.
for cheaper alternative you can try RE11 potenzas. but super sports should be better overall.
