I don't get the Speedster...for over $70k less you can have a GTC cabriolet and have more option choices

If you had money to burn, why not get the speedster? These are Porsches, not Hondas.

Limited edition (356) collectible. They won't be driven often in most cases.

Correct.

I didn't get it either, but upon going down to look at the car, it has some amazing and unique details. And with only 356 worldwide ever being built, it has "scarcity" and scarcity is a prime determinant of value.

Congrats to the buyer. Lovely car.

Thumbs down

My wife and I saw it @ the LA Auto Show and, although it does stand out from most 911's, we just couldn't see Porsche's exorbitant premium for it.

I don't get this either. A car is for driving, not sitting on a pedestal gathering dust. It's an insult to the maker if you don't use it as intended! You want 'collectible', buy art, coins, etc. You want a car, drive it.

Maybe I'm just weird. I don't understand people who buy a high-end watch to keep in the safe either.

Right there with you bro. I'm a consumer, not a collector.

People that buy high end stuff to collect do it because they can and they often are not limited in their ability to do so. There are enough people who can spend $200K on a car to look at and drive on ocassion to sell out a run of 356. Those people can also buy five GTSs and Turbos to drive if they desire.

Clever how P selected a run of 356.

If you don't put high end watches and jewellery in the safe, what else do you put?

356 counts is not limited enough for me, considering that there were only 50 club coupes.
