Default 2007 GT3: The Plight/Journey of the O.Z. Ultraleggeras

I purchased a set of ADV1s for my 2007 GT3 about 2 months ago for street wheels, but they will be arriving in end of may.

2 weeks ago I found a set of barely used (2 track days) 19" black O.Z. Ultraleggeras that 6speed member 6776 from texas was selling.

I always loved these O.Z. Ultralegerras since a-workx http://www.a-workx.com/strassensport...he-tuning.html used these on their porsches.

I purchased these and they arrived last moonday.

I then took them to my powdercoater at POWDERCOAT-IT in Sacramento, CA.

Mike, Steve, and Chris took care of me and were able to strip the wheels of the black paint and powdercoat them in RED.

Took delivery of the wheels last friday..... and went to my my tire shop - RADIAL TIRE OF SACRAMENTO (the MICHELIN distributor for the Sacramento area) and shod some Michelin Super Sports.

With wheels on

Not a big graphics guy, but just wanted to experiment.

Got the side graphics from Kyle at K1 studios - www.porschestripes.com

Here's the final outcome:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last on the exterior mods are painted side mirrors in guards red and RS wing.

So should I keep the side graphics, or take them off?

Thanx for your opinion.

I think the whole package looks great!
It's making a statement, but it's a GT3. It should make a statement.
Nicely done.

I like the graphics it ties the color in better than without. I think the red mirrors will look good as well. Please post a pic when done. I have been considering making my mirrors black and I think seeing yours will help me decide.

Very nice rims. To be honest though, the graphics and rims appear to have a slightly different hue of red. If that´s the case and you do change rear wing and mirrors you should contemplate to match the decals as well.

I love the photos of the wheels where they appear to be Dutch orange (though i think that's just the lighting).. I wish all of the graphics and wheels were that color.

A couple of quick questions on powder coating: do you need to machine the powder coat off of the area where the lug nuts seat to be sure that they don't back off? Same question on the area of the rim where the tire bead seats. Could there be an issue with the tire unseating due to the new slicker surface? Just curious. The red wheels and graphics are quite nice. Well done.

I think the red wheels by themselves are the way to go. Just the right amount of color. The RS color scheme is ok, but don't ruin the pure white GT3. It is so damn sweet as is.

This came out so nice! If someone tried to do this with a non-sporting car (not a GT3, GT2, etc.) it would be too over the top. First rate!

Have you seen the blue version of this? I think Sloan is trying to sell it...it's in the Rennlist classifieds. Beautiful.

the wheels look great!

IMO there's too much of a difference in shades between the wheels and graphics; have the graphics redone in the same shade and it will look better.

Thanx for all the replies.....

Once I get my other set of wheel, my new wing, and guards red painted mirrors on..... I'll decide on the graphics.

Thanx again for reading/viewing my joy in owning and modifying my GT3.
