Default PDK issue - need advice

I have a 2011 C2S and this morning while drive to work the PDK went out of gear while on the freeway. Gear select display went blank and then about 5 seconds later a message is displayed with 'PDK over temp". The dealer just called to tell me it is just a glitch, that there is 3 levels for over-heat and it jumped directly to level 3. All the tech wants to do now is drive the car around for 10 miles to be sure.
It seems to me the root cause with over temp was not resolved and the second issue with proper errors is another.
Should I be upset or is this normal?

Never had that happen. I would feel a little uncomfortable with that explanation. It may or may not re-appear in 10 miles. I'd ask for a more thorough response/resolution.

Thanks. I will take your advice and call the Tech back.

Never heard of that or had it happen either. I'd be worried of a faulty sensor or that whatever is causing the glitch will glitch again. Bummer. But you probably have to ride it out and if it does happen again, then you have cause to push for a "real" solution.

Steve,
Maybe that is the only way to resolve this but I won't have much confidence in driving it. This time I was lucky that in heavy freeway traffic I did not get hit from behind. If anything I would have expected the PDK to go into limp mode.

I haven't read anything about anyone getting a PDK "worked on" either - fixes seem to be pull it, swap it, old unit goes back to the father land for post mortem.

I put 16000 miles on my Cayman S PDK and never had anything like that happen while driving. Not even on the track.

Had it once in 2009. Never happened again. There were threads about this. Low battery voltage was the cause. Drive car to charge the battery and it is gone as I recall.

Never had this happen to me, even at the track but I have heard of this before.
