if they were real vents, why are they a different color from the body? my vote is on stickers. also look at previously posted spy shots where you can clearly see silver stickers.

Those are definitely stickers to my eyes. If it were a real intake vent, you shouldn't be able to see that much of the vent, given the pronounced curvature of the rear quarters (in the first pic).

Is it a real vent or not?
Maybe Bin Laden put those stickers on yesterday. He is still alive you know.

Guys, the "vent" is a STICKER/DECAL.....end of speculation. This has been CONFIRMED by someone that has driven the car at Porsche headoffice.

There are shots of turbo prototypes circulating as well. Wider, real side vents, and exhaust very similar to the current car.
Hard to tell with this one; doesn't seem to have the turbo exhaust, but does seem wider, and the 'sticker' does seem quite real.
Prototypes in and around Los Angeles are extremely common. At this stage of development, typically driven by average people that do this for a living, not engineers; they follow a route and gather data.

After looking at the pictures I still think it's a Turbo and those intakes look very "real". I guess we'll have to wait and see what the final design looks like.
Anyone know if the Turbo's are traditionally released at the same time as the C2 and C2S?

Traditionally, Porsche is slower to release the turbo models. They usually start with the Carrera and Carrera S models, then the 4s, and turbos, and then other things like targas--if they will continue to produce them.

Stickers. And knickers. And once this image circulates, whoever was 'supposed' to be driving that car (if employed by a Porsche division) will likely be slapped.
Kids driving - dead giveaway - that's no turbo. And to the OP - great shots - but you're driving a cab, with the side windows up? Lost points.

Also, look at the first pic again. From that angle, on a real turbo, you can't see that much of the "inside" of the intake, which means the intake on this car is a two dimensional "sticker."

Seriously - I was wondering the same thing.
I saw the new boxster prototype driving around Marina del Rey last week and was suprised to see a person in it who I would never have guessed was an engineering type.
I dont get the joy ride thingy, but every focus group I have been in didnt include joy riding, how does this happen?!
