Just go back from the dealer and a test drive of a 2010 997. The dealer emailed me on Saturday and said they had just traded for this vehicle which has 2K miles. Coming from the Cayman here are my impressions: The 997 felt more substantial and obviously has more torque and power than my base Cayman. Even with 19" wheels I didn't find the 997 to ride any rougher than the Cayman. The ride almost seemed more dampened than the Cayman--this may be because of the additional weight. The 997 seemed more spacious and "airy". Though I did not have an opportunity to spend much time on roads with many corners the 997 certainly was not as confidence inspiring as the Cayman and I definitely could feel the weight in the rear (some of this may be a matter of acclimating to a different vehicle). Overall I would say the 997 would be a better daily driver than the Cayman. Just some random impressions. I'm not sure where this leaves me in my search.
