Hey guys, thanks for all of the replies. I have it scheduled for an inspection for later this week with The Auto Gallery. I plan to fly out to see/drive the car myself as soon as the inspection is done if everything is clean. A friend of mine is planning on coming with me for the long, but hopefully very fun drive home.

OP, did you end up buying from Sports Trend Auto? Are/were you happy with the car?

I'm looking at this beauty myself: https://www.stasales.com/vehicle-det...96e0a7d3a9374c

Have done two test-drives already but being a noob myself, I'm looking for additional experiences with this dealership. I want to do a PPI and DMI and have contacted a couple of local shops in the area. Any additional recommendations would be appreciated.

I had a very complete PPI done by InspectX and had the car shipped. It was better looking than in the pictures and no surprises. The dealer (Phillips Auto) was very helpful before and after the sale. I would have flew out there with my son-in-law and drove back, but it was cheaper shipping it. Plus, the 1400 mile distance is as many miles as I would drive in 4 or 5 months.

Default BEST PPI in LA AREA

I’ve had Tony look at my car in the past. He knows Porsche’s and is a PCA Technical Editor.

TRE Motorsports is probably the best Porsche shop in the valley. They are essentially right next door to Sherman Oaks.

They are not cheap though, but will spend hours going over the car and give you an honest and complete report.

Default Sherman Oaks PPI

@thelou: You should definitely have a DME scan done along with a full PPI that encompasses more than what Porsche checks for during a CPO inspection. Essentially, CPO checks for high-level powertrain and cosmetic integrity, but leaves out a lot of the generation-specific issues that are important for an early 997.
