Someone being banned, or suggestion of a ban should be a requirement. Also, contributions from those that don't own the type listed at the forum header also helps.

I think you are onto something here. Does a thread really need many responses to make it epic? Or insults? Maybe all it needs is an epic beginning? Like some of your examples.

M3 vs. C2/C2S? There's always someone who'll bait the Porsche faithful into a rabid defense of the brand. It's kind of amusing to watch the argument devolve.

I dunno though, I'd be hard pressed to think of any Porsche thread that could get as vitriolic as a Campagnolo vs. Shimano or Doping free for all on a bicycling forum. You all are refined gentlemen compared to the savagery that goes on with those topics.
