Default OZ Wheels: 18 or 19

Looking to upgrade from the Lobsters soon and noticed that the new Michelin SS come in more 19 sizes than 18. I have discussed some of the benefits of 18 wheel with RonCT but wanted to see what people thought about 19 vs 18. This is a street/track car. Weight difference can be that much so i guess its tire availibility and price?

Thanks

If this is a Street/DE car I would go with 18's as there are more options with 18's for track tires and the $$ are less.

18s ride better on rough city roads. Cheaper to replace tires.

But the 19s do look really good!

I run 18s on a lowered car and quite happy with it.

another vote for 18"....actually 9x18 and 12x18 running 255/35/18 and 315/30/18.....or....245/40/18 and 305/35/18 are the 2 sizes that work on a 997 version car. I personally think they look better than 19's and especially better than the skinny side wall 20's. 18's on a lowered and properly aligned car look, ride and handle the best.

Lobsters are some of the lightest wheels available.
If you have the 18" lobsters, consider keeping them for track use and upgrading your daily set to some 19"s.

The OZ Alleg.....(sp?) are lighter than the OEM Lobsters. I prefer my CCW Forged for the track.

I read an article where Walter Roehrl said he was happier with 18"s on this car.... but what does that guy know? My choice would be 18"s- generally lighter and they give just enough compliance to eat up the abberations in the road. If you're all about aesthetics there are some pretty nice choices in 19"s as well. I've driven quite a few of both and the 19"s aren't a dealbreaker, just not my pref.

this.

i bought ultraleggera HLT's for the street but unfortunately my stock lobsters - which do track duty - are also 19. am planning on buying some 18 track CCW's sooner or later.

+1 on 18's... tires are a consumable for the track along with pads and rotors.

+1 for CCW's for the track with the wheel and tires sizes suggested by mdrums. The wheels/tires on the car (997S lowered 10mm from factory) in my Avatar are 18" CCW's with 245 and 305 RA1's.

If looking for looks, 19s, if for track use, 18s for sure!

If after the best look, 18s all the way. Need to see some tire, just like all the race cars we drool over (think about how much sidewall there is on a Formula 1 car). If after the best ride and handling, 18s baby! If on a budget, it's really hard to beat the OZ from TireRack. I think they come in 8.5" front and 11 or 12" rear. I never understood the idea behind a 12" rear unless you were running seriously wide tires that need that much rim. I have 8.5 and 11 Volks and they are "perfect" with 245 / 305 RA1s.

Here's a great deal for you. Get the OZ wheels and snows from fellow RL member, replace the snows with Super Sports, sell off the snows.

I had lobsters (they only come in 19"). Got a set of C3s. Side-by-side they fill the wheel wells almost the same, due to the thicker rubber on the 18s. My friend & I ran "tests" and we concluded the 18s were better. Not exactly Rohl, but same conclusion. Cheers.

Oops, you are right. I thought those were 11" rears (as I suggested above). Sorry...
