Will keeping the backseats down improve the stereo sound quality. When the seats are up it would seem to be blocking the sub-woofers that are directly behind them.
Is this logical or will not make any sound difference at all.Thanks...

In theory, no. The seats aren't blocking the sub but only the air ports. With a sub you hear the box which is non directional. A sub box should just fill the space.

The port in a subwoofer helps reinforce low bass response. All else being equal, a vented (ported) sub will usually give more bass output for any given amplifier wattage than a sealed subwoofer, although sealed subs generally give tighter, more precise bass response. In any event, as was mentioned above, since bass is non-directional having the seatbacks up should have little effect on your perception of the overall bass coming from your Bose subs.

In short, doesn't matter as "sub" frequencies, such as "bass" will pass through materials without impeding audio quality (unless your enclosing the sub in a sound-prof enclosure that is...).
Think about your condo/apartment days when you would hear the "booming" noise from your neighbor's stereo or home theater system....

Ski & OP, It may be just me, but I've never tried or liked listening to anything other than the car. I've been content to drive for hours just listening to the engine bobing up and down in sound. I was out today, beautiful sunny day, had the windows down just happy as can be listening to the engine. Cheers.

I could not agree more.

low freq are not directional and the seat backs do not matter if up or down. Plus it's Bose and the only help to make it sound better is to replace it.

I had Bose in my 06 and 07 so when I went to order my 09 I did not even get Bose this time. I do not mis it either.

Just swapping out the speakers for something in the 'audiophile' category would do wonders. Then maybe an amp if that doesn't do it for you. Like someone said...this isn't the car for the audiophile focused driver.
