Default Looking for a 997 (1st P-Car)

Just sold my 08 535i, going to attempt to achieve the 35 year old dream of owning a 911. Been my dream car since about 9 yrs old.

So, I figured a budget of $65k + tax and lic. which got me into a 2008 C2S or 2009 C2.

Found an 08 Guard Red C2S, 12k mileage for $63500.Sport Chrono Plus, Navigation with PCM, Bose High End Sound Package, CD player, Thicker Leather Steering Wheel, Stainless steel exhaust pipes, Stainless steel "Carrera" door sill insignia. black leather interior, 6 speed manual, PASM, PSM, Bi-Xenon lights, speed activated rear spoiler. Original warranty through 2012.

Also a 09 Carrera White C2, 12,500 miles for $63980.00, SPORT CHRONO PACKAGE PLUS, BOSE SURROUND SOUND System, Porsche Active Suspension Management, 19 Inch Carrera Sport Wheels, Seat Belts in Guards Red, Universal Audio Interface, Leather Sport Seats, Heated Front Seats. The entire center console the hump between the seats is painted Carrera white also??

The 09 is at a dealer so I could get it CPOed. I would need to find a good 3rd party warranty company on the 08. Which is the better car? I know the DFI motor gets rid of any RMS/IMS issues. the HP difference is only 10.

I need the warranty as I can't absorb a $13-$15k engine replacement. I know the IMS issue is rare, but still.

I prefer the Red Car as that's my Favorite color, but buying pre-owned does limit ones options. I would get the PMI and DME run for either cars.

THanks for any suggestions.

If you don't get the S you'll wish you did later.

I'll respectfully disagree!

Buy the car you like best. Both the base and S will blow you away.

I believe the C2S at 355hp is an extra 30. But what I REALLY love on my C2S is the THICKER steering wheel. I'd go for the red. As for the diffence between two engines I would need to drive them. I only know the C2S but I hear the basic C is awesome. Billh1963?
As for the warrenty, add on a 5 year EasyCare before the manufactuer's runs out. Simple.

+1... get the S. '08 CPO'd C2S are starting to show up at dealerships throughout the country. Found my '08 C2S at www.porsche.com/usa under pre-owned vehicles last month... last placed I looked but the '08 via the Porsched dealership costed me the same as the '06 models I was considering via cars.com, autotrader, private, etc. Pure luck fined but I got the original warranty til '2012 June + 2yrs of CPO = 2015 June. Took me 2-3 months of research to fine the right car/deal though. Enjoy the hunt...

Red is my fav 911 color, but I would get the better car.

Of two above any one better than the other on options? Condition would be first priority, of course. Also, I did not think I could CPO a private party purchase even if it's under mgf warrenty? I wonder if my neighbor could work some magic for me on this, he is the sales mgr at Truspeed, perhaps he knows somebody at the dealer who could get the 08 car CPOed?

i would suggest the 09. new engine new lights ets. 997.1 versus 997.2 plus the options are good fo rthe 09/ red is nice but white will grow on you. in the end you will see that white was actually a very good choice. where i am it is the most saleable color. steering wheel is easy to upgrade, leather sport seat is more difficult.. you will be happier with the 09 plus its more economical

Does the white painted area around the shifter hurt resale? I am not to fond of it but perhaps it would grow on me.
