Tow Hook License Plate Holder (w/ photos)
In New York its a requirement to have a front license plate.
Trying to avoid making holes on the front bumper i searched online and found an excellent solution that uses the tow hook hole in order to mount a license plate holder. I bought it from moweraxle.com
I won't say much. Service and shipping was excellent and the part itself well thought and designed.
Pictures will tell the story better than words...

I've seen these before. Centre mounted plates looks like chit. To me, off-centre plates look even worse, they look odd. I don't think holes in the bumper would turn away a potential buyer. But that's just me.

I bought a similar plate holder from US Mill Works. Similar installation but more hardware and mounting locations.
I intend to drive without front plates but when I need to get an inspection sticker they will want the front plate on the car so this is a great option for those yearly inspections. I may also use it for longer trips depending on where I'm going.

Very cool, very smart! I live in, and drive to states that require the front plate (mainly because of cameras). I had the dealer screw it in, and that was a tough one. Then, the bridge sensor (Good-To-Go in Washington) has to be somewhere. Well, it is on the front plate so I do not have to deal with a decal on the windscreen.
I've gotten used to having it on the front, but a lot of you are aesthetically different. That day it became a car...but a beautiful car indeed!

yes, 996twinns! ^^ those are them!
I've been keeping mine in the back seat for YEARS!
but it's there at a moments "spin" if and when i find myself in a metered parking spot ( that's how they nab ya here also! )..or PCH is even WORSE as they drive up and down all day long ticketing for just that! "no visible front plate". the tow hook mount i've found to be the easiest and still compliant instantly on/off solution. i had mine made by a guy that was making them in his garage and e-selling them here and 6spd/ebay?... it's very far left, when facing the car. doesn't bother me, as i don't "need it" much. but it's a "must have", i think ( in LA anyway..) i actually lost my first one at speed, but the guy made me another steel/plastic framed combo version. no issues since!

I have the sea thing. I took y chances with no plate for about two years and got two tickets. The San Francisco Meter Maids are just so miserable with their career choice that they have become vile creatures. I won't give them the satisfaction of giving me one more ticket.
OP, you should take off the plastic cap that is used to cover the bumper hole before it falls off somewhere.

I agree! The tow hook plate mount is a great idea but aesthetically having the plate centered looks nicer then off centered to me. To each there own but a great idea for those who don’t want to put holes in your bumper!
