Cleaning Calipers.....
Thought I'd throw one out for the clean junkies (include me)......
06 C2S with Speedline wheels and nice, bright red calipers (with brake dust on em'). How do you guys clean calipers?
I'll head this one off.....Didn't really want to take wheels off everytime I wash the car.
Anybody, anything else? Kewl tools, skinny fingers, secret chemicals, double secret spy techniques?
My calipers and I thank you in advance

I have Lobster Forks.
I use skinny fingers, soap and water, then a bit of detail spray in between waxes.
There is absolutely no need for anything harsh unless you have been tardy with your cleanings.
Can't stand dirty calipers.

I use one of these. I bought one years ago to use on my bikes, and it works so well I use it now to clean the inside of the wheels and the calipers on my P-car.

I have Champion RG5's which aren't very conductive to fitting fingers between.
Wheels off is the only way to go for me. I don't do it every wash, but once a month at least. It allows me to clean not only the calipers very thoroughly but inside the wheels as well. With a jack and torque wrench the wheel is off in only a minute or so. Definitely worth the extra effort.
In between just do the best you can with your sponge while washing the rest of the car.

wash out complete brake system with simple green, or 409, fantastic every 3 to 4 weeks, in and outside of wheels, most of suspension, then blow and dry with air.

The secret to cleaning calipers is to stay on top of them from the very beginning. If you allow them to start getting dirty it only increases your burden later. Wax them after you wash them, wheels off. (Wax the inside of the wheels, too). It's really hard to play catch up on this area of the car.

I would like to officially say that I want to buy your old cars. Something tells me the rest of the car looks as good or better than your wheel wells...
Well done!

these work well:

now Im using P21s GEL. The gel is better than the liquid spray.
