Just in Beaufort a couple of weeks ago. Spent a couple of days in Hunting Island camping (motorhome.....no tent camping). Had a great po-boy and a beer at Plums. Neat town.

I thought about driving 1700 miles from pheonix to chicago! But I figured out that with the tickets and possible jail time it might not be worth it lol! Some of those roads out in the middle of the country it is quite hard to contain yourself!!!!!!!!!!

Go Billh/So. Carolina!!

And it works just fine, as well. I love the C2's and the stock look and feel. If one does not track, it is ample-plus on all performance issues.

Keep that NEAT look in the family. Somebody has to do it!

I have done many great drives in Porsches, but it's funny how my two cross country drives, from out of state purchase really stand out as memories. The excitement of the purchase, being someplace new, learning and admiring the car all the way home. It's quit an unexpected "high". Great experiences and memories.
Enjoy that 997! Thanks for the story.

It is difficult to keep your foot off the "loud" pedal when your are on an empty highway....that's all I have to say about that!

Did the same thing two weekends ago with my 12 year old son (but a shorter distance). I set the speed limiter at 80 just "to be careful." It wasn't long before he told me to simply turn it off.

Good times!

I've driven from CA to the mid-west (KC Mo area) and back many times in my Porsches. There are places -- especially in the southwest -- where you can well, enjoy your car. Same is true from AZ to Chicago. You have to pick your spots. I use a V1 and a hand-held CB radio.

No way you can hammer down from door to door though. You'd not get 10 mles before you be locked away forever.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Congrats. Very nice color and great that you got to experience a long drive home. I've got to do that sometime . I now have a 997.2S. See you came from a 40th anniversary too.

Congrats. I remember buying my second Posche in TN and driving it home to NJ. I wished the trip would never end. Good luck and I love the color.

What a great bonding experience... I still remember Anreas's experience a few years back in the 993 forum as though it were yesterday
